Vehicle Detail
For sale is this gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet Hard Top Bel Air also known in 1955 as the “Sport Coupe”. The Hard-Top designation comes from the elimination of the post between the front and rear side windows making this a highly desired feature. 1955 was the first year for Chevrolet’s “Shoe Box” body style, which proved to be very successful. The Bel Air was Chevrolet top trim level, featuring more chrome than the 210 or 150 and offered many more desirable options. The 57’ Bel Air is the most famous for all its glitz and glam, but the 55’ Bel Air is appreciated for its subtle yet iconic design. This is a great example 55’ Bel Air hardtop with an awesome driveline and stellar looks.Powering this ’55 Bel Air is a Corvette 350ci V8 sending its horsepower to a smooth, but sure shifting, 350 turbo transmission. The red vinyl and tan straw cloth interior is correct and in perfect shape. The new power steering and 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes add to the comfort and ease of gliding this beautiful bowtie down the road.Adding to the cool factor of this 55 Chevy are the 17” American Racing Torque Thrust II rims and vintage spinners. Options on this awesome 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air include: Bluetooth AM/FM Stereo with Amp and Speaker Box, Digital Gauges, GPS Speedometer, Completely New Wiring Harness, Completely New Power Steering System, 4-Wheel Power Disc Brakes, Front Coil-Over Double-Adjustable Shocks, Rear Double-Adjustable Shocks, Global West Tubular Control Arms, Radial Performance Tires, and Aluminum Alloy Rims, Refreshed Engine. Please the Following List of New Items (All completed during the winter and spring of 2018...less than 200 miles on all improvements below):Engine: $1,546Edelbrock 2701 Performer Dual-Plane Intake Manifold: $140Edelbrock 7201 Intake Manifold Gaskets: $22Edelbrock 1406 Performer 600cfm, 4BBL, Elec Choke Carb: $345Edelbrock 8714 Aluminum Carb Spacer: $60Edelbrock 4115 Classic Polished Air Cleaner: $267Edelbrock 4143 Classic Polished Valve Covers: $308Lokar TC-1000HT Hi-Tech Throttle Cable w/ Stainless Housing: $64Lokar TCB-40DQ Throttle & Kick Down Cable Bracket: $80AC Pulse HMG-001-MFR 7500RPM HEI Distributor: $50Accel 8199 Spark Plugs: $30MSD 31199 8.5mm Super Conductor Plug Wires w/ Sleeves: $120R&M Specialties 1101-90S Spark Plug Wire Looms: $60Custom Dual Exhaust with X-Pipe and Power Pack Tips: $700Transmission: $517 JEGS 60383 Transmission Cooler: $100 JEGS 555-113601K Braded Transmission Cooling Lines: $122 Lokar TD-3350400FM36 36” Stainless Steel Trans Dip Stick: $96 Lokar KD-2350HT Hi-Tech Kick Down Cable w/ SS Housing: $99 Pirate Mfg Black Finned Trans Pan & Morroso 93102 Gasket: $90 Duralast TF122 Transmission Filter: $10Heating/Cooling: $1,516Be Cool 60002 Down-Flow Radiator: $599Canton 80-201C Recovery/Overflow Tank: $177Heater/Radiator Hoses: $40Danchuk 12407 New Heater Core (Best): $190Danchuk 014 Heater Control Valve: $70Danchuk 14953 Heater/Vent Cables with EZ Slide Coating: $30Danchuk 10435 Side Vent Control Cables with Smooth Knobs: $57Flex-A-Lite 180 Black Magic 3,300cfm Electric Radiator Fan: $253Remanufactured Heater Motor and Fan: $100Fuel System: $1,352Danchuk 895 Stainless Steel 18-Gallon Fuel Tank: $860Danchuk 12739 Fuel Filler Pipe: $75Danchuk 195 Fuel Sender: $60Edelbrock 1721 Performer Street Fuel Pump: $125Edelbrock 8123/8134 Braided Fuel Line w/ Anodized Filter: $82Custom NiCopp Fuel Line w/ Full SS Guard: $150Electrical System: $1,467American Autowire 500423 Classic Update Wiring Harness: $560American Autowire 510002 Electric Fan Relay Kit: $60American Autowire 500717 All Copper Grounding Kit: $160Summit Racing SUM-G1230-K Battery Relocation Kit (Trunk): $167Optima 8012-021 D34 Yellow-Top Dual Purpose Battery: $277Flaming River FR1003 Battery Disconnect: $93KnuKonceptz Kolossus OFC 0 Gauge Battery Cables: $150Steering: $2,185CPP 500 Series Power Steering Box, 14:1 Ratio: $440Danchuk 10149 Rag Joint: $50Danchuk 51160 Manual Steering Linkage Kit: $180Pro Forged 105-10035 Aluminum Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves: $60Moog ES234RL Tie Rod Ends: $90Ididit 1160550020 Straight Steering Column – Chrome: $915Classic Chevy 57-387504-1 16” Steering Wheel w/ Chrome Horn Cap: $400Wheelskins Leather Steering Wheel Wrap - The paint job is older (mid '80s I was told) and does have some minor rock chips here and there. Additionally, there is some solvent pop in the clear coat on the hood, top, and trunk lid. I'm not sure if those could be wet sanded out and re-shot with clear. It is a solid paint job however and looks good. If I were to keep this as my personal car, I would look at a repaint sometime in the future. There is absolutely no rust on any part of the car. The sheet metal is super straight and solid. I am a reasonable seller and am willing to work with anyone, so please reach out with any additional questions of if you would like to put this beautiful '55 in your garage. Thank you for looking and thank you for the question.
