1959 Impala 348 tri-power, automatic, 4 door hardtop. This vehicle has been sitting for approximately 30 years, with the Lichen growing on the passenger side shows it has not been cleaned during this same period of time. I removed the dash padding as it was cracked terribly and found and painted red hood as the origonal hood was missing. I cannot explain why the black paint stayed while the white washed away? The body shows to be solid as seen by the pictures showing under the car and spare tire wheel well, although with closer inspection, rust was found on the bottom rear of drivers quarter panel, drivers side rear passengers foot area and small areas in the trunk floor. Dents with the two largest on left fron fender and right rear quarter. The engine was taken out to be rebuit several years ago, by looking at the casting numbers on the intake, heads and engine, the parts were manufactured for the early 1959 cars. Look at the engine pictures to see the real 3x2 valve covers, as the rear spark plug wire bracket is much shorter (to have distance from the air cleaner) than the standard tall wire holders. Of the engine, the origonal paint only on valve covers and air cleaner.The engine will need over sized pistions and a complete rebuild. Waiting for some parts before the engine can be installed. The cars still has the 4 bigblock wheels, two in the trunk and two on the car, the offset is one inch insted of shorter smallblock wheels.. This is an old car and is being sold "as is".
