Vehicle Detail
Hi I'm Rob and I am a BMW addict and enthusiast. This car was hand selected by me in 2012 as the best last year E39 wagon on the nationwide used car market with the lowest miles at a freakishly low 36,000 miles when I bought it as an almost 10 year old car. I got it for my wife to use as an elegant nice riding and safe vehicle with lots of space and utility and she really enjoyed it but then so did my step father who was so impressed with my used car buying skills that he bought it in 2014 and used it a few more years before now retiring to Europe and no longer needing this car after having driven around just 20,000 miles with it in 4 years. My wife moved on to SUV's after I put in my best effort to make her like wagons instead, but my goal ultimately was to make her happy not to push my preferences in vehicles onto her. But still she does admit she misses driving this car and admits the actual driving experience and handling, the rock solid feeling of the car, plus the silky smooth engine in this car as well as the classic simpler pre digital luxury interior is something she did end up missing. I have found her sneaking this car out for a spin since it has been back in our driveway recently, but we really have too many cars so this one has to go.This car was bought from it's only owner from new in the wealthy Long Island, NY enclave The Hampton's. It still has it's BMW Southampton license plate frame where it was bought and maintained. But yes you could tell the super low miles were the result of seasonal summer use by careful wealthy elderly owners using it at their summer beach house and garaged all winter. This car was probably used mostly in a 20 mile radius on rural roads and my 350 mile trip back to Virginia with it was probably it's first time off Long Island. As expected this car was in better then expected condition, but I still gave it my full routine of quality redline fluids in transmission and differential as well as coolant and all other fluids, filters, sparkplugs replaced, flushed and changed. Since then regular full synthetic 5,000 mile oil changes usually with German liquimoly oil if not then 7.5liters of 0W40 Euro formula Mobil 1. All other needs were addressed over time like new alternator, very recent battery, new continental Extreme contact all season tires even a new $$$ recent speedo dash unit that malfunctioned and instead of sending out to try to fix my dad just had them put in a new one. Some steering leak work etc... But over all this car has been very problem free otherwise totally dependable and at it's best being efficient on long highway trips. All of the use on this car was of a light duty easy life nature. But more importantly it lived it's whole life in rural areas, no constant stop and go traffic or urban commutes, the engine fully warming up to operating temp during our use where in central Virginia the store is at least a 10-15 minute ride away. So it was an ideal life for a BMW to live on 45-55mph country roads for most of its life. This dramatically increases the life on these cars. If you look at city driven or stop and go commuting used BMW's they will be prone to have sludge and much more wear and other carbon deposit problems etc... then a car that was used like this car was. So even before the low miles this car is in the best possible health based on its history. The E39 chassis is a modern classic. The wagon is in demand and even more rare and sought after. 2003 was the last year of this body style. The E60 that came after this is garbage. This design was BMW elegance and driving dynamics that came to a peak during the golden age of early 2000's BMW's when they really were at the top of their game before all the electronics invaded every part of the newer cars. I also own a 2003 M5 so I am a huge fan of the perfectness of this era of chassis. Even the auto trans and the inline 6 of this era offer a beautiful joy in using this vibration free beautiful sounding reliable combo. Remember this era car had lifetime fluids in trans, but I got to this car with early enough miles and switched filters and fluids the way only an enthusiast that knows about properly maintaining these cars would do.I had a 2001 e46 325it that I finally sold at 210,000 miles and it was still running strong and had more life left in it. Same engine and stuff. So this car with 84,000 miles has potentially 15-20 more years of use relatively trouble free with proper maintenance and this car will still look good then. This is the nicest used car to get in this price range to get for yourself or help pick out for your grandma, college kids, wife, active young adults, new teen driver, your friend looking for a good car anyone really. Has quality ceramic heat rejecting tint, also park distance control, heated steering wheel and seats, rear window shades.I have sold cars, motorcycles, tractors and lots of high ticket items on ebay to totally satisfied buyers for many years. After the transaction I am easy to work with to arrange for the pickup. I may be able to deliver this car for an extra fee and fuel charge just let me know your location as long as it's east of the Mississippi.Only bid if you are ready to pay the amount you bid, you could win the auction with your bid even early on if no one else bids after you. No reserve highest bid wins! Good luck bidding and bid to win a rediculously good used BMW for this price range. I'd say this is still a retail $10,000 car but get it for way lower then that here, from an honest private party seller that spent way more money to make this car right and make it ready for you to drive away now with all this cars needs fully taken care of for many miles to come. Give it some oil changes, use it and enjoy. This is the ebay car that is worth winning even if it appears that it will cost more then a used up non properly maintained higher mile one. Good luck. On Nov-28-18 at 11:54:38 PST, seller added the following information: I've had a bunch of questions about the minor parking hit I forgot about. My dad ran into a car in front of him while attempting badly to parallel park during the first week he had it but of course it was still my ownership and insurance at that time, you'll see it was transferred a week after the small accident. It was reported as the other vehicle was damaged mostly. This mishap was fixed at that time so you’ll notice 1 new headlight and front bumper work with new bumper cover I think that was well done to fix damage at that time. I have receipt and lots of records for this car of all the work done.I kinda forgot about it, it was like the first week he bought the car before he got used to it. But yes all inspections welcome. It may not be the perfect 15 year old car but this was a less then 7mph parking accident for sure and that’s its only mishap or paint work in its life. The rest of its little bumps dings bruises remain original patina but on a black car you hardly see much but close up you do, this car looks great but it's no show car. Please remember though inspections are welcome before auction close, not after. I may also restrict bids from those with less then 10 feedback ratings unless you contact me first. I do not like people who do not know how ebay works sufficiently enough to buy a car on here to ruin one of my auctions. It happens too often and wastes everybody's time and ruins it for serious bidders so please just reach out to me if you are new on here and we can talk about how serious you are and that I feel confident that you do know what you are doing. Thanks.
