Vehicle Detail
1968 Plymouth Sport Barracuda Formula 340-S Fastback Coupe Matching Numbers 340ci Engine & 4-Speed Transmission FMC is proud to offer this very special and rarely seen Barracuda Formula 340-S Fastback Coupe. This is not only an authentic Formula 340-S, it is also equipped with its original and matching numbers engine and factory 4-speed transmission. Classics like this do not cross our paths very often yet here it is! This Barracuda is presented in its factory color as well; Matador Red (code PP1). The paint was refinished over a decade ago. The front grills are new as well as the directional lenses, front & rear bumpers, door handles, drivers outside mirror, rear taillight housing and lenses and new wheel open moldings. All other chrome and trim is original and in excellent condition. The interior is mostly original and in excellent condition. Seating is original and in excellent condition with no tears. Gauges are clear. All gauges, instruments and lighting including the factory tachometer, 150 mph speedometer and AM radio work as the factory intended. The woodgrain door panels, floor carpet and door sills are new and the only non-original items in the interior. All windows and door locks work freely including the outside key locks. The car has front and rear seat belts. The 340ci engine was completely rebuilt nearly 4 years and less than 300 miles ago. The transmission was also rebuilt and has a new McCleod Street & Strip clutch. The cost to rebuild the engine was $5590.45. There are receipts for both. The engine is equipped with a Mopar “Orange Box” electronic ignition, Edelbrock RPM Performer intake manifold with an Edelbrock 650 AVS2 carburetor with electric choke. A new “Mutha Thumper” Competition Cam camshaft was added along with roller lifters and adjustable roller rocker arms. Stock exhaust manifolds exit into a 2 1/4″ Flowmaster exhaust system and Flowmaster mufflers with stainless tips. Other new parts include new brakes all around, Bilstein front shocks and rear coil over shocks. The driveline utilizes a Hurst console 4-speed shifter mounted to the original Chrysler A-833 transmission following the original 8-3/4 Sure Grip differential with 3:91 gears. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are at 85% and the wheel center caps are new. The body and undercarriage are rust free and super clean. The car starts, runs, shifts and tracks down the road with no unwanted noises, vibrations or rattles of any kind. This is a significant piece of collector car history that can be driven anywhere you want to go.
