Up for sale is a rare 1978 black knight el camino with build sheet. Some say only 1500 or less of these cars were built in 1978. I bought this car from a member of my wifes family which has owned the car since 1980/1981. This car is a true survivor. The car retains its original drivetrain. As you can see from the pictures the car is in need of a full restoration. The good news is, this is a SC car and only has minor rust issues. The floor pans have some minor rust holes, ranging from the size of a penny up to a couple of inches in diameter but is not bad at all. I have removed rear window trim and bed rail trim to show there is no rust issues. The bottom of doors, rocker panels, and lower quarters are in excellent shape as well as frame rails. The bed floor is virtually dent free and in good shape. The hood and roof do have some surface rust. The interior is in rough shape. The seat, carpet, headliner, and visors, etc. need to be replaced. This car does fire right up and runs good, but is not road worthy. The passenger side exhuast manifold has a leak at doughnut gasket. The gas tank will need to be removed and cleaned/ or replaced. I have only run car off of temorary gas jug. I have blead the brakes and got them working temporarily but they will also beed to be replaced. This is a rare el camino that will make a good car for someone with time to fix it up. I found the build sheet on top of the headliner board in car, this is the real deal with rpo code z16 sports decor package(black knight code). On Oct-03-18 at 16:50:02 PDT, seller added the following information: I found another piece of the build sheet today for the car that had a partial vin id on it. Also i talked to whom i consider to be a black knight expert. He told me some things to check on the car and i found what appears to be maroon carpet that was dyed black and some guage bezel paint was in question. He believes the car is a dealer clone but i also have the build sheet with z16 and vin i.d. on it. Due to these discrepancies i can not and will not claim this as a 100% black knight as i want to be honest as can be. You look at the info and form your own conclusion and bid as you see fit. Thanks.
