Vehicle Detail

HISTORY: Owned since May 9, 1993. I purchased it locally from a guy who bought it March of 1989 in Texas and brought it back. He had not done much to the vehicle with plans to restore but had gotten married, bought a house and lost interest. Over the years to follow from 1993-2008 I began the restoration to the condition it sits today. FRAME: In 1994 I began disassembly. This included blasting the frame and parts down that were going to be reused, rust proofed and repainted. ALL the components that attach to or on the frame either got replaced or redone, most were replaced. The entire front end with exception of the A-arms was replaced, all new brake components, brake and fuel lines, all new bushings, everything was brought back to like new condition. DRIVE-TRAIN: The motor in the vehicle when bought was not matching numbers. It was damaged and worn so another block was purchased with a Chevrolet casting number of 3963512. The rebuilding of this block began in 1995 The block was bored .030 and 1969 oval ported heads where bought machined, and all knew components installed. The motor was build to 10:1 compression and a hydraulic cam and lifters used. It uses 93+ octane with a boost added each filling, It only has around 700 miles since completion. The Turbo 400 automatic transmission was not matching for the vehicle and damaged as well, a cracked housing. So another was purchased and rebuilt which included installation of a mild shift kit, no issues. The 12 bolt rear-end had the factory 3.31 gears still in it. The rear-end was rebuilt and 3.73 gearing was added to the limited slip differential in 1994. The drive shaft was balanced and heavy duty u-joints installed in 1994 as well. BODY: Originally from Texas, the body and floors were in decent shape. It was an original vinyl top vehicle which it still was when I bought it. I removed the top and kept the top off when completing this vehicle. All the stenciling and badge placement went off factory paperwork and measurements. All the paint work, codes, coats etc are included in the paperwork to go with the vehicle. The front and rear bumpers were the ones that came with the vehicle and were sent out to be re-chromed receipt included. All new factory tinted glass replaced. All new GM emblems, lights, lens and bezels. All new factory GM cowl induction system replaced and operating, the hood is original to the vehicle. The factory gaps and seems on this vehicle were mic'd to perfection. All this work was completed May of 2008. INTERIOR: The car was gutted from the beginning. I had both seats which include the front bench seat resprung, repadded, and new covers installed. Dynamat was put down prior to the rug being installed. The dash and pad were replaced with a correct SS dash including gauges that all work. The car is an auto shift on the factory tilt column. A Chevrolet wood grain steering wheel was added replacing the factory SS wheel which I still have. An all new headliner was installed. All new door panels and GM levers including latch assemblies replaced. WHEELS AND TIRES: 15x7 GM rally wheels up front wrapped in 255X70R15 BFG tires. In the back are 15X8 GM rally wheels wrapped in 285X70R15 BFG tires. Both front and back have GM center caps and rings. I believe I have mentioned everything about this car.
