Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1991 Chevy g20 extended passenger van. This van has an actual original 67k Miles on it, not a misprint. See attached DMV records. I purchased this van from one of my clients a major aerospace manufacturer that used it for short trips and all pm maintenance was done on a strict schedule whether it needed it or not. It is one of the last of the old school Chevy vans but has a lot of the newer features like 350 fuel injection and overdrive transmission. It is an extended long wheelbase beauville addition that can seat 12. I originally had plans of of making it into an adventure surf van but just got a new sprinter already equipped. It would make a great adventure van or could be used as is as a passenger or work van. There aren't many 27 year old vans with this low of mileage so I have hopes that it will go to someone who will give it a good home. At the time Chevy decided to make an extended van by lengthening the wheel base Instead of just lengthening the body like the other manufacturers. So this van is really long. Even with all the seats in there is still a a lot of cargo space left (I imagine it could fit another row of seat). Keep in mind that this is an almost 30 year old vehicle so if your expecting it to be like a new car you would be better off buying new but if your looking for a classic old school van to drive around this would be one of the better ones you will find. Mechanically the van is in great shape. The engine always starts up right away and runs great. The transmission shifts smooth. I replaced the sparkplug, spark plug wires, fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor with original ac delco parts. Oil always on regular schedule. The van steers straight with no play in steering and tires are in good shape and wearing fine. Oil pressure, temp and charging are all within proper range, I've put over 300 mile in a day on the van with no issues. Personally I would feel safe driving it cross country as is. The van will cruise all day at 75 but I noticed that past 65 you need to pay attention to steering the van or it can get a little squirrelly . I think its a combination of the long wheelbase, quick steering and the fact that you drive almost over the front wheels make it a little touchy. Seems to do better with weight in the van. Van brakes fine. Suspension seems to works ok but I noticed it's a harsh on potholes and large bumps. Maybe some worn components. Exhaust sounds ok but may need a new muffler coming up in a few months(sounds too throaty for a stock muffler and is most likely wearing out internally). The van has front and rear fan ac but does not work. I think it may be in the controls since the temp control slider has no resistance and doesn't switch from hot and cold and the blower fan only works on low speeds in front. It was serviced before I got it and I saw the compressor turns on and frost the lines so I think it maybe a control issue but will leave that to new owner. When I first got it one of the idler pulleys made a little squeak but seemed to go away after driving it. Once again I would feel ok about driving the van accross country and its fine to drive as is but I want to make i point out everything I know. Body. The van is a California desert van so no rust. Undercarriage looks great. There are multiple dings an chips And dents. Biggest flaws are the passenger door where the edge is bent from opening too far due to high winds in the desert breaking the straps that keep the doors from opening to far. There are a few straps on the doors that need to be replaced. The paint on the roof is pealing here and there. We sanded and spay painted to protect metal. Body paint is ok and still shines, Rear bumper is bent. There are three dents on lower pane drivers side near door where looks like someone used a fork to lift. Overall nothing to scary and shouldn't be too hard to repair. No sign of any prior bodywork and over all looks clean. Beauville emblem on passenger side is missing and tint on windows is bubbling. Interior: two front seats have tears on original upholstery the three bench seats are in good shape, door panels are good all around except driverside and passenger front has wear. All plastics look great with the exception of some smaller flaws and a hole in dash that had drilled for cb. Headliner was in perfect shape till I lent to a friend who ripped it putting in 14 foot ladder. The small cover for cigarette lighter is missing. Door seals are worn and you can hear wind, window seals seam fine. Barn side doors sweak when driving but new seals should quite it down a little. Carpet is stained and need replacement, I replaced front carpet with vinyl kit. Stereo is Bluetooth wth hands free calling. I have a rear view camera for it not installed that I will leave for new owner to install. There are multiple small things like USB port and new items that replaced. I was planing on making it a cool retro adventure van. Right now all the hard stuff is already done, truck runs great and body is fairly clean, can be used as is or restored fairly easy to make a cool retro van. The van is in my name and is currently registered in California till February. My short list on the van if I was going to keep it was to replace door seals, new carpet, headliner,ac and a little Bodywork and it would be pretty nice. Good luck and feel to ask questions, I will try to post a utube video of van later. I will be out of town on business from June 19 to 25. So pick up would need to be done before or after those dates.
