Vehicle Detail

Up for no reserve auction is this super rare, numbers matching 69 Coronet 440, 335hp 383 Magnum, A883 4speed manual, with no power steering, no power brakes, factory air, and a 8 3/4 non sure grip rear differential!!! I had this car decoded by trusted Mopar aficionado Richard Kras, of My Mopar. RICHARD CONCLUDED THAT OF THE 113 CARS PRODUCED, ONLY 38 DID NOT HAVE A SURE GRIP REAR DIFF!! UNFORTUNATELY, HE CAN NOT BREAK DOWN HOW MANY OF THOSE 38 HAD FACTORY AIR WITH MANUAL STEERING AND BRAKES. I WOULD BE WILLING TO BET THE FARM THAT THIS IS THE ONLY B5 BLUE/ B5 BLUE, 69 CORONET 440, 335HP 383 MAG, 4SPEED, NON SURE GRIP, WITH MANUAL STEERING, MANUAL BRAKES, AND FACTORY AIR EVER BUILT!!! I come to that conclusion, because Kras's option and accessories report, states that only 47% of Coronet 440s in 69 had A/C. Theoretically, (but probably unlikely to be this many), this would mean that of those 38 non Sure Grip cars, 18 people elected to spend an extra $357.65 for air conditioning. Of those 18, how many people would have ordered manual steering and brakes, in that color combo, built at the St. Louis plant? According to Kras, this car was an option code Y14, which means it was ordered by the customer with this weird set up. This car comes with it's original, strong running and driving, numbers matching, 383 Mag and A883 4speed,(both have vin stamping pictures below), It comes with it's original broadcast sheet, in nice condition. It also comes with the original date coded Carter AVS carburetor, K member, seat belts, A/C compressor, exhaust manifolds, heads, intake manifold, distributor, water pump, and some glass. The radiator support and rear trunk drip rail is stamped with the last six of the VIN. Everything is listed below. I do not know much history at all on the Coronet, only that it was rescued by the previous owner, about five years ago from a field near Lincoln, NE. According to the previous owner the car sat there for many years, and sank into the ground where the rear frame rails, trunk floor, floorboards, crossmember, and the back part of the front frame rails rotted. The front part of the frame rails, and the whole K member look good. The car will also need rocker and lower quarter work done, but will not need work near the VIN stamp on the drip rail. I do have the rear bumper, but the rear frame rails are so bad that there is nothing to connect it to. After he got the car home he was able to get it running and driving after sitting for so long! The gauge cluster in it now has an electric clock in it and I received another one that the previous owner said was out of a parts car he had without a clock. After looking over the broadcast sheet and the fender tag I asked him if the extra one was the original, but he said no. I think he was fibbing because the extra one has a date code of the 330th day of 68. The car was also repainted at some point to some sort of blue-grey color. The drivers front fender was also replaced, not sure why, I don't see any signs of an accident. Unfortunately, he had no other history then that. This car runs and drives awesome! It has plenty of power! It is also reliable. I have owned the car for about eight months and has been registered and insured the whole time. The pictures on the lift were taken at my parents house. They live about 30mi away from me, I drove it up there and back on an 83 degree day without any problems what so ever. The temperature gauge didn't rise any higher then it does on any other cooler day! I also live about 10 miles out of town. I have driven it to town many times, and have putted around town without any problems. At some point the previous owner pulled out the heat/air box because the heater core started leaking, and never finished the job. I have it as well as what I believe is all of the a/c parts he pulled off to start this project. Oddly enough, I can't find a date code on the box. It looks like it has rubbed off, since they where only painted on. The wheels are obviously wrong being Keystones, but the tires were new last summer. If you are looking for Super Rare Mopar, well, here it is! Yes, it is in need of some love. Luckily, everything this car needs is being reproduced today. And lets be honest, most of these cars being restored are in need of the same parts this car needs. This is why these parts are so readily available. This car deserves to be restored to it's former glory, especially since it retains most of it's original parts! Listed below are part numbers and date codes. Thanks for looking, Travis!
