Vehicle Detail

1973 Buick Riviera, many new parts. Runs good. Detailed list to follow... Bought from an Ohio collector in Sept 2017 who bought from Pittsburgh, PA with 60,110 miles. He listed these items repaired as he drove it. Described as a Sunday driver.. Paint job to 81# Bamboo Cream original color. (Not a great job, obvious runs in paint and sanding scratches, bondo i think under quarters. Maybe paint can be color sanded to remove some runs, not a show car paint job, a 20 footer... ) Bumper chrome fair, has some pitting not perfect. Glass ok.New brown vinyl top. New trunk weather striping installed. New tires.Replaced brake and gas lines tank to fuel pump , and power brake booster along with new master cylinder.New alternator and battery. New headlight dimmer switch and neutral start switch. Items not working: Horn, bad relay he said? Gas gauge, rear driver window track roller.Headliner seam is ripped, passenger seat vinyl seams ripped. I received the Riviera in Sept 2017 with the understanding that's it a driver, not a show car with some things to fix... Have receipts of parts bought and installed. Replaced gas tank with new and new sending unit and new tank straps. New rubber hoses at rear gas lines. Now dash gas gauge works.. Rebuilt 4 barrel Rochester carb along with a new choke pull off. Fixed divorced choke to idle down after engine warms up. New fuel pump with filter and new rubber fuel lines to pump. Replaced pcv valve, breather and air filter as well. New carb to fuel pump line installed from Inline Tube. Motor runs good, plenty of power. While gas tank was off, new rear springs with rubber insulators and new rear shocks. Now rear sits level with no sagging. ( Didn't change front shocks. Original front suspension parts there, but drives and steers ok. )Bottom of trunk has holes on both sides, see pictures. But i undercoated under all trunk area while gas tank was being replaced. Also rear and front wheel well areas undercoated.Replaced both rear wheel brake cylinders, shoes and spring hardware. Turned drums, still thick enough to use. (Didn't touch front disc brakes, brakes now stop well without any noise or pulling or leaks. ) Has new power brake booster and master brake cylinder and steel brake lines replaced. Bled brake fluid to finish brake job. Didn't change rubber flex lines to brakes, you might want to do this.. Replaced exhaust system from manifolds to rear bumper with Walker brand pipes and mufflers. No resonators installed. Has a nice factory sounding rumble.. Not too loud or soft. No more exhaust leaks.. Has newer battery and alternator replaced. I installed a new starter and battery cables. Engine now spins over like it should and starts great every time.. Battery tray is rusted and has fiberglass patch from previous owner. Needs battery tray replacement. Replaced radiator and upper and lower hoses. New fan clutch. New thermostat and by pass hose. New temperature coolant light sending unit on manifold. New alternator / water pump belt installed. New heater valve and heater hoses. No leaking of heater core. Good heat and dash heat switches work to cycle climate control. A/C was not charged and cooling when i bought the car, so i removed compressor and belt and bracket. Compressor in trunk. See picture. Now engine runs cool with no leaks. Replaced transmission cooler lines to new radiator, trans shifts fine with no leaks. Replaced valve cover gaskets and painted valve covers Buick red. Still has a small oil leak at rear driver valve cover but I'm hoping the felpro cork gasket will swell up to seal... Not really driving a lot now, here in Chicago snow everywhere so its in the garage waiting for summer cruising times..UPDATE: Drove Riviera around the block to heat up valve cover gaskets, weather warmer here. Tapped down corner of valve cover gasket and that sealed up the small new cork gasket seeping issue. No more valve cover leaks, gasket sealed fine.. Driver rear passenger side window replaced track roller wheel that was broken and off track.Cleaned all power window grease tracks of old hard grease, re greased so now all windows go up and down. Cleaned and lubed passenger door lock latch, was full of old hard grease. All door and trunk locks work well now. Dash pad faded color brown, but no cracks. Door panels no cracks, but showing age. Interior worn, but all there, passenger seat cover seams split. Headliner ripped. See pictures. Not a perfect interior but passable for a daily driver. Not a show car.. Front and rear glass removed and resealed. Now water leaks stopped. Rear package tray is cracked on driver side but still intact. No more trunk water leaks. Removed carpet to replace and found floor pans rusted. Repaired both front and driver floor pans with fiberglass and rust preventive rubberized paint.See picture, rear passenger floor pan has holes and has a new patch panel included to weld in. Bottom both doors have considerable rust holes by weather striping areas. But on exterior door bottoms rust is not seen. Probably at previous owners amateur paint job, bondo was used on lower door panels as well as on other areas. Again its a daily driver, has some rust issues and not a show car. But still a decent looking Riviera. Under hood and trunk lip areas not rusted out. See pictures. In trunk previous owner patched rust holes on both sides of trunk with fiberglass. Frame of car has rust but not rusted through. Spare tire is Buick chrome rally wheel.Jack and base and handle there. Spare tire attaching hook and spinner knob present. Trunk cardboard sides with spare tire cardboard cover included but worn as well as trunk carpet. New low beam headlights installed. Wiper blades also. Speedometer sticky.. will read up to 30 mph, even though you are driving faster. Needs to be cleaned and greased? All dash lights work, interior and exterior and trunk lights work. No cruise control on this Riv. Turn signals work. All power windows work. Power seat wires disconnected under seat. Didn't work on that.. Don't know why power seats not working.Aftermarket radio works. Only 1 front driver side speaker working. Front passenger and 2 rear speakers not working. So after reading this, you can see alot of repairs have been done to make this Riv a dependable, leak free driver. The next owner could do the rust repairs and restore the interior and paint to bring to the next level...A decent nice looking driver, but has some rust to fix. I feel this Riv should be worked on, not stripped, parted out or crushed, but that's the next owners move. I hope i have explained the condition and repairs done. If you have any question please ask.. Thanks! Inspections welcome. Chicago area. See my other auction, 38 thousand mile ORGINAL condition Poly Gold- Green 1973 Riviera. Great styling, nice road cars, withtorquey motors, the Buick 455 V8.
