This sweet California girl has been owned by my mom – a 75yr old school teacher – who drove her gently 5mi to and from school every day. Service: I have been a Land Rover technician for over a decade. I race them and drive them too and all of my experience is poured into my restored trucks – especially mom’s as you can imagine. Below is a summary of all recent work done inside the last few months: - Headgasket service w/valvejob. Heads tested, cleaned and surfaced. Block leveled and cleaned. Resealed with all new composite gaskets including head gaskets, intake, valve covers, valley ends and new assembly hardware. $2250 Value - 120K mi service including drivetrain service, cooling system flush, oil change and filter, new fuel filter, air filter, STI spark plug wires, OEM spark plugs, drive belt, breather hoses, fuel system service. $895 Value - New high capacity ALUMINUM 3 ROW radiator. $750 Value - New Genuine Brake Pads and Rotors all the way around. $1495 Value - New Genuine Brake master cylinder with system flush and bleed. $550 Value - Upgraded Discovery 2 Compass mirror and cupholders. $200 Value - Brand new headliner and concourse detail. $650 Value - CLEAN CA Title in hand, current registration and recent CA STAR COMPLIANT SMOG CERT! Performance: Use the original factory remote to operate the perfectly working keyless entry and enjoy 5 doors on your Land Rover that actually work as they should! Once inside, she fires right up and purrs like a kitten. There is absolutely no overheating, hesitation, ticks, knocks or stumbles. This truck has a surprising amount of power off the line and through all gear ranges. The tranny is velvety smooth with no shudder, slip or skipping; just solid assertive power. All power options work such as seats, windows, sunroofs, wipers, horns, blinkers and so forth. The factory audio is crisp and clean and the head unit lights up perfect. There are no Check Engine lights or ABS lights. AC and Heat work perfect and there are no leaky evap core or heater core smells. Brake performance is great and she doesn’t sway or pull under intense braking. Handling is excellent with total road manners. She steers precise with no wobble or dead spots. The ride quality is smooth and plush. There are no rattles or clunks from the suspension. She is sure footed on the freeways even over 85mph. The only reason for the sale was her getting into a newer 2004 in a color she was waiting to find for a long time. Aesthetics: She’s a beautiful truck. Like most older California girls, there may be a few fine lines and wrinkles but she can still wow on the red-carpet. The Chawton White paint polishes extremely smooth to the touch. It is highly reflective. There are no peels. Any surface blemishes or imperfections are minimal at best and don’t take away from its clean look. It is also a RUST FREE ROVER! I’ve spent some time in New England this year and I’ve seen what’s there even at just a few years old and all I can say is holy smokes! Thank goodness for Southern California – if for no other reason how the climate preserves these things like they just rolled off the showroom floor. There is no wheel well, floor board, jamb, bulkhead, A B C D pillar or post, rear tray or frame rot anywhere. The Alpine windows are perfect. The Bahama Beige leather interior is still nice with the only real wear being evident on the driver’s seat. There are no rips or tears, just the soft worn base-ball glove effect of quality leather worn in over the years. The carpets are clean. All door cards, roof nets, and rear cubbies are secure and tidy. The steering wheel still feels calf-skin smooth and there are no rips or tears or chunks missing! Exterior plastics are a bit more worn typical for their part type and position, but nothing out of the ordinary. She is a SMOKE FREE VEHICLE and in fact – smells like a new car with its recent upholstery upgrades and detail. Purchasing and Perspective: Please read my outstanding feedback from folks like you! No one sends off a Land Rover or Range Rover better than me, PERIOD. It’s the vehicle I drive, and the vehicle I RACE. Nearly two decades of Rover ownership and service are poured into every Rover that I see into new hands. The commitment to service here is a commitment to my own passion and to a shared bond between enthusiasts. You won’t find that anyplace else – although more and more of late, many try to copy. Beware of any vintage Rover that does not share the same service points as the ones I list here with my collection. I am not a Land Rover tech that drives home in a Honda Civic. I come from a long line of British Car technicians and Live, Breathe and even RACE the green oval. I understand ALL of your concerns and needs and do my best to ensure that you will be happy based on a simple, yet powerful concept: DOES THIS VEHICLE MAKE ME HAPPY? WOULD I PUT MY FAMILY IN IT? WOULD I LOVE TO HAVE IT? The answer is always yes. And that’s when I know they are ready. I care. I know you do, too. To that point - watch out for my copy cats. It has come to my attention that people claim they work with/partner with me. This is not true. If you aren’t buying one from me… its, well, NOT from me!!! THE IDEA OF "NEW TO ME VS. A NEW CAR" New cars have warranties because… new cars break! What lines the service bays of Rover dealerships around the world? I’m willing to bet a lot of you know! While I am VERY proud of each and every Rover that I hand select and hand-craft, the vast majority of them are 20+ years old. As amazing as all of them are, i wouldnt ever say any of them are "perfect." None of them are and I have only used the term museum piece ONCE – and I am well aware of the qualifiers for that monicker. These trucks, as refreshed as they are, are assemblies of new parts, used parts, remanufactured parts and ORIGINAL parts. They are all, to quote a mentor of mine: “Ships of Theseus.” With each and every listing, i try to capture the flavor of what strikes me about each vehicle. I try to capture their essence. I try to make the description feel like a conversation between you and I, or even a phone call. Covering the general and intimate details that stand out to me. That said, we all know that while they are all Rovers, all made in the same place, each one is different. It is not possible to discuss every nut and bolt, but I have done my best to list and discuss what would matter to ME. Let me know what matters TO YOU.
