Vehicle Detail
1971 DKW 125 Enduro Vintage woods and desert racers take notice, here’s an original 125 DKW with 544 miles on the original VDO speedo. I am convinced the mileage is correct and it’s a true “time machine” as everything appears to be factory. This bike still has the original West Virginia inspection sticker on it dated 1983. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to go back in time to 1971 and buy a new DKW Enduro. No it’s not perfect but for a 47 year old machine it’s close. The stock original Metzler tires show little wear. The Stainless steel fenders are like the day they were made. The original side reflectors are intact. The factory chrome rims are sound but have minor rust and patina. Spokes and nipples are tight and clean with some minor patina. All original factory cables with oilers and handlebar controls are still in place. The original CEV tail light and headlight are in place. Headlight has some scratches on the bucket and bezel but still are decent. The original chain and sprockets look perfect with no visible wear. The factory tank paint is bright and shiny but has a few minor chips and a dent on the right side. The chrome side panels are really nice but not flawless. The frame serial number is S/N# 428000460 and the Sachs Engine is 9031370 122 DKW 125 1/6A. All factory original Handle bars, controls levers, light switches and throttle manufactured are in place. The factory passenger pegs are in place. The original DKW seat cover has some cracking and a taped repair but still very presentable. I removed each wheel, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted brakes axles, bearings, chain etc. This bike was obviously stored inside. These bikes won the 125 class in the Baja 1000 due to their incredible reliability, they are built like a German tank. Bike ran great 2 years ago but has been sitting so the carb needs gone thru, tank flushed and oil changed. As you can see this is truly a special piece of German history. It’s ready for someone’s collection or a Museum. As they say their only original once. The pictures speak for themselves, it’s really a special bike. DKW's took 1,2,3 in the 125 class and 5th and 6th overall motorcycle at the 1970 Baja 1000! Also Gene Cannady took 4th overall at the 1971 Elsinore Grand Prix day one and 2nd out of 700 bikes day 2! After riding this one that seems impossible to me but hey I'm reading their sales brochure. Well enough with the accolades, I guess you realize that I love this bike so it’s not going cheap, it will stay in my personal collection until someone pays what I believe it’s worth. However, with that said my price is realistic based current market pricing. It will appreciate in value with time like all vintage bikes. Sorry the factory warranty has expired. No title but I will gladly write a bill of sale. Bike is also being offered locally. Bike to be picked up by the shipper of your choice, I can recommend a few guys I’ve used. I’ve done my best to describe this vintage DKW's condition. Additional info and photos upon request. On Feb-01-18 at 06:27:14 PST, seller added the following information: February 1 - I pulled the Bing carb, cleaned and inspected it. Changed the oil and added fresh fuel. The bike fired right up and idled perfectly. Video upon request.
