Vehicle Detail
Here we have a car I bought about a year ago. We had a 2007 PT Cruiser in the family that we sold to a friend and then we missed it. I found this one on eBay and it was in Virginia and I thought the body would be great and it is great. We did not drive it very much, only putting about 1,000 miles on it in a year. I bought another one, a 2006, for another family member to use and they have returned that one to me after no longer needing it. One of them needs to go and we reluctantly have chosen to sell this one. This one has the better body and we find the 5 speed manual transmission very good and a lot of fun. It was stored last winter and did not see salt and I am not driving it now, but it is outside. It is -2 here this morning and it cranked very slow so I will probably throw a battery at it later today. I will also spring for an oil change, although it is a little early on the mileage to change the oil. The outside pictures are not as good as the car is. I should have used my phone for the pictures I guess. Instead, I used my camera which was a higher resolution and the high resolution got "dumbed down" when I uploaded the pictures. And, I wiped down the care with Mcguirer's Showtime before taking the pictures and it left the surface a little greasy and smeared. The body is very good and the interior is higher quality than the newer PT Cruisers and it is in great shape. I had the car looked at mechanically when I bought it and they fixed some suspension items but said brakes etc were good. The kid of the Virginia owner before me thought he would make it sound cooler with drilling a hole in the bottom rear of the muffler. I thought it was rot but understand it was the drilled hole. Well, I don't hear it sound better or worse and my mechanic thought it was a waste of money to change a good muffler for that little hole. I have included a picture of that hole. It is only a few inches from the end of the tailpipe so there should be no safety/fume hazard for dangerous gasses entering the cabin. The windshield has a small chip as well and I have pictured that. I have replaced the cracked taillights and I will replace the battery and the rear hatch cylinders before it goes to its new owner. The body is very good with no rust that I have found. Please note that I have included one picture of the underside of the door so you can see how solid it is. There are some surface scratches consistent with the age of the car. I think I have some touch up paint and if I can find it, you can have it. The kid also liked this vinyl trim stuff and did the inside edges of lots of things. He also put it in the body trough near the window line on the outside. I guess it was probably blue like the inside vinyl but it is sun faded. I was going to remove it all but the kid next store had designs on buying the car and I kept it around for him since August. He really liked the vinyl trim and so I have left it. His grades were not high enough for his dad to think he should be distracted with a car at this time and that is why I am selling it now. The air and the heat and most everything else works as noted. I see a button marked U/L on the dash... upper and lower? lock or unlock? I have no idea and when I press it, nothing happens that I can see. Maybe you will figure it out. It has not been a high priority for me and I have not even looked in the owner's manual. The Virginia kid also added one of those LED lighting kits in the car and you can see the controller box on the console side. I have done nothing with this to verify if it works or not. Frankly, I never noticed it until I took the pictures with the flash and saw it on my computer screen. When you bring a car into Ohio that was not bought at a dealer, you take it to the deputy registrar and they verify the serial number and the mileage and that verification form goes with the out of state title to the county title bureau and they create a new title. Well, I should have proofread the title verification slip better because they put 170k miles on that slip. The car had 157,700 miles on it, not 170,000. The mileage is right in my ownership and the last guy said it was right in his ownership period. I have no reason to believe that the car has any more or less miles than is shown. If anyone was going to pull any shenanigans, they wouldn't pick 157,000 miles, they would pick 40,000 miles. If you live near Toledo and you are looking for an inexpensive, fun car that is ready to go and doesn't have the Ohio, Michigan and Indiana "salt-rot", then I have a neat little car for you. I am going to run a No-Reserve Auction starting a $500. That is a huge loss to me at that price and I am thinking it should go for far more than that, like at least 5 times that amount. But, you never know and I want to start low enough for people to jump in and bid. Bid early and often. If you have less than 98% positive feedback or less than 10 feedback scores, I reserve the right to cancel your bid unless you contact me first. Also, I will report non-performers to eBay so if you bid, you are committing to buy if you win the bid. I would prefer to take a $500 PayPal deposit and get the rest in cash or cashier's check, preferably cash. I might be talked into the full amount via PayPal but you won't get the title until I have the money from PayPal. I have been burned on that once before. Let's have a good clean auction where we all do what we commit to do! LATER NOTES FRIDAY 12/29/2017: I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND I DID PUT A NEW BATTERY INTO THE CAR. THE OLD ONE WAS NOT THAT BAD BUT IN THE COLD SNAP WE ARE HAVING, IT DIDN'T SEEM STRONG ENOUGH TO ME. ALSO, THE LED INTERIOR "MOOD" LIGHTS WORK FINE. I PRESSED THE ON BUTTON LAST NIGHT AND THE CAR LIT UP IN BLUE. VERY NICE. IT IS A NICE LITTLE CAR. ONLY THING LEFT FOR ME TO DO IS TO GET MY STUFF OUT OF THE BACK AND TO PUT NEW PISTONS ON THE HATCH LID, WHICH I WILL DO OVER THE WEEKEND. I ALSO BOUGHT AN OEM FRONT LICENSE PLATE BRACKET WHICH I WILL EITHER INSTALL OR JUST GIVE IT TO YOU. IT IS BETTER THAN THE AFTERMARKET ITEM THAT WAS ON THE CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT. IT HAS NICE MICHELIN TIRES, EVENLY WORN BUT NOT QUITE TO HALF WORN YET, PER MY MECHANIC. I JUST LOOKED AT THE CAR FAX. I HADN'T SEEN IT BEFORE. CAR HAD SOME TIME IN CALIFORNIA AND THE SOUTHWEST AND A LITTLE TIME IN NJ BEFORE GOING TO VIRGINIA, WHERE I BOUGHT IT.IT IS READY FOR YOU! HAPPY NEW YEAR AND IF THIS IS THE CAR FOR YOU, BID ON IT!
