Vehicle Detail

I am selling a 1999 Bi Fuel CNG Cavalier 4 door sedan with only 109,543 miles on the temperamental electronic odometer. It has the older 2.2 liter (2200 Vortec) engine and a 3 speed automatic transmission, 4 wheel ABS and a Pioneer CD player. It was purchased here on Ebay from a dealer in North Carolina and was originally a fleet vehicle for Piedmont Gas. I used it during the great gas crunch of 2008 when everyone was paying $4/gal for gas and CNG peaked at $2.25gge. Our local gas utility ended their support for CNG a few years back and Clean Energy is no bargain. It has served me well, but it’s time to let it go. It has several problems that may or may not be a big deal. · The check engine light is on because there is an issue with the torque converter preventing it from locking up (code P1870). The transmission does not slip at all and I have driven it for several years with this condition. Unfortunately for me, this disqualifies it for an emissions test in MD. · The low oil pressure light comes on at idle when the engine is hot. I have replaced the switch and not been able to solve the problem. My take is the engine is just showing its age and not a real problem. It has also been doing this for years. · The car was purchased with some rear end damage that didn’t really bother me. Since then, the trunk latch became disabled after someone slammed it down on some tools and broke it. Since you can’t get to the latch through the back seat because of the CNG tank, I had to pry/cut my way in from the outside. As a result, the trunk lid does not close properly and would likely not latch again if it was pried open. Even with this large a gap, there is no water leakage even during monsoon rainstorms, but this would likely fail a safety inspection. The remainder of the car is in fair condition and the title is clear. There is a scrape on the rear quarter and the usual dents and dings you might find on an 18 year old fleet vehicle. The CNG system functions and the car has about 3/4 tank of gas to prove this. The tank certification expired in 2014 and the buyer will have to acknowledge this in writing to close the deal. The AC works well when it is recharged and there are no major problems with the remainder of the vehicle. Carpeting was replaced when I bought it, and all the glass is intact. Brakes and tires are close to their limits. The value here is in the CNG components. I hope that this would be worth something to the right individual, but they probably don’t live on this side of the country. As such, I am prepared to assist in loading it onto a trailer or drive it a short distance to meet a transporter, but otherwise is being sold as-is and where-is.
