This vehicle is an early model 500SL with extremely low production of 899 total units for that year. Mileage: 189,000 The vehicle comes with a clean clear title that shows first registration 1981 in New Mexico. When the previous owner purchased in 10/2002 the actual mileage box on the title shows 126,164 miles. Some service documentation records are available including (2) major services pictured where timing chain full service and transmission rebuild were done, a list will itemize these services below** Based on the color code option, (480H), the vehicle was delivered new in Manganese Brown. The previous owner said he did not paint it the current color red while he owned therefore it was done prior to 2002. The clear coat is faded in 3 main areas including hood, trunk lid and roof. There are other areas of the paint where cracking can be seen. There is no rust on this vehicle including the undercarriage. It lived in the southwestern USA where the climate is more arid and dry. The interior is palomino leather showing rips, cracks, and fading. There is a factory installed foldable rear seat with 2 seatbelts that presents well. The original dashboard does show some cracks. The previous owner states that he did not receive the vehicle with european bumpers. It was federalized with USA bumpers prior to his ownership. It still retains the factory Bosch headlamps with a 3 level lighting adjustment switch. The soft top is black in good condition showing no rips or tears and was recently replaced by the previous owner. There are 14 inch MB bundt style non-chrome rims on the car. The motor starts right up, idles smooth, runs, drives and shifts smoothly through all gears. Steering has a bit of play. This car has very raw big power. Excellent torque off the line, highly responsive motor and the fun 1st gear start. It does not leak fluids on the ground. Brakes will need to be addressed immediately. Comes with partial books, some service records, convertible tools, spare tire, tool roll and 2 keys. Also, there are 2 headrests specific to this car that will come with sale. The previous owner purchased a spare 500SL motor at the time he bought the vehicle. According to previous owner the (117) spare motor has 75,000 miles on it.
