Vehicle Detail

1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass/442 W-30 Nordic Blue Original "Code 24" Convertible recreation being sold with "No Reserve" This Oldsmobile up for auction is the perfect classic droptop to enjoy these summer days, and there's plenty of fall weather coming up for top down cruising. If you have been looking for a beautiful classic convertible that you can instantly become a fan favorite at the local car shows in your area or you would like to use this sweet blue beauty as a daily driver then this rare convertible may have your name on it! These 1970's muscle cars have incredible investment potential, and have been referred to as rolling bank accounts. Remember, When the top goes down the price goes up! It is becoming increasingly harder and harder to find a true Nordic Blue 442 with white stripes in a convertible with each passing year. Everyone who knows these cars know this color and interior combination is one of the most popular and most desirable. This is a very rare attractive body color and the metallic in the paint just sparkles. This convertible originally came from the factory ordered as paint code 24 Nordic Blue as verified on the data plate. The body had its original paint but was dull and faded after 46 years of existence. The majority of the chrome was removed and the body was beautifully painted with a gallon of the original paint code 24 Nordic Blue followed by the white W-30 stripes buried in the clear coat. The body is virtually laser straight and most people that look at it would probably say it is very close to show quality. The metallic in the Nordic Blue paint really makes this car look stunning. The cool dual snorkeled ram-air hood has brand new chrome twistdowns. A brand new front bumper and a brand new rear cut-out bumper were both installed after the paint work. Brand new 1971 442 grilles were installed at that time with new 442 emblems, and new W-30 emblems to make this classic look like a real W-30. Brand new chrome door handles with gaskets were also installed to open the doors with ease. The complete dual exhaust with flowmaster type mufflers are brand spanking new that includes the infamous new chrome trumpet exhaust tips running out the rear of the cut-out back bumper. This car sounds wicked to say the least. This sweet Oldsmobile convertible up for auction is a W-30 recreation. I'm sure all the real Olds guys out there know how hard it is to find a Nordic Blue Cutlass/442 convertible. I was told that the mileage is correct at barely rolling over once. According to the previous owner, this Olds does have the original numbers matching Rocket engine and I double checked to make absolutely certain that the engine numbers match the vehicle identification numbers. I believe mostly all of the original components are on this engine with the exception of the electronic ignition. That was changed over to insure that this Rocket fires right up every time. I never cared to mess with points, so that was a most welcomed upgrade. In preparation for the sale this engine was treated to a fresh oil change and oil filter and the following items were installed: new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new rotor, and a new distributor cap. This Olds starts right up and runs and drives great. The brakes are very touchy and make you feel like you could stop on a dime. The convertible top is brand spanking new and was just installed a couple weeks ago. The new convertible top does have a back glass window. There is an original white California convertible top boot included in the trunk. That can be placed over the top when the top is down in the well. The entire interior still shows in very nice condition as seen in the pictures. The original dash pad is in very nice shape, and I couldn't find any cracks anywhere. Fortunately this dash was never cut up like was typically done to these cars back in the day. The vanity mirror is still on the passenger sun visor. The original AM radio is still present and actually works, but only hooked up for sound through a front speaker. The rear speakers must have been used somewhere in the past with an aftermarket stereo. The rear speakers still look in good condition, so the new owner may want to add an upgraded stereo at some point, so those speakers were not removed. The options on this Olds include power steering, power brakes, power convertible top, dual sport mirrors, five Super Stock II sport wheels, 442 sport steering wheel, and tinted glass. The wipers work on both speeds with a new washer fluid container. All the head lights, bright lights, all four tail lights, all four brake lights, all four turn signals, all four cornering lights, emergency flashers, and even the license plate light all work as they should. The front bench seat was recently reupholstered with new padding, so it should be nice and comfortable for many years to come. This bench seat even has the cool center arm rest option making top down cruising a pleasure. These classic convertible's are a wonderful way to bond as a family unit at the local drive-in movie theater. After the engine was detailed I tried to place all of the original factory decals in the engine compartment and under the trunk lid, so this Nordic Blue beauty would appear as close to the way it did when it rolled out of the factory on to the show room floor back in 1971. The front and the rear floor pans are the originals and have never been replaced. I've never had the car up on a lift, but in my opinion from everywhere I looked under the car the floors and frame still appear in good condition. The carpeting still looks in nice condition, so it may have been replaced at some point. There is a new set of four brand new black carpeted floor mats along with brand new chrome door sills. It always looks nice stepping up to these cars with the top down opening up a new door handle followed by looking at the new chrome door sills. All the insides of the door jams were also repainted as were the fender gutters and the trunk gutters. This Olds rides on a brand new set of four Mastercraft Avenger G/T P225/R7014 raised white lettered steel belted radial tires to make this droptop sit up and look just right. The brand new tires were mounted on color coded Super Stock II wheels that were painted at the same time as the Nordic Blue body. All four SS II wheels have new chrome lug nuts, all four bolt-on center caps, and all four beauty trim rings. There is a 10-bolt rear-end, but I am unsure of the gear ratio. The trunk floor was replaced just prior to my ownership with the correct full GM A-body trunk floor pan kit and was coated with black and aqua AC Delco spatter spray to make it appear factory correct, so the trunk should stay in nice condition for many years to come. The trunk carries a full size exact matching Super Stock II wheel with a matching Mastercraft Avenger GT same size spare tire with the original jack, jack stand, bumper mount, and crow bar all nicely detailed. This way if there is ever a mishap on the road with a quick tire change you can be back on the road in minutes looking complete. The trunk has a brand new gasket seal and inside the trunk has the original styled trunk floor mat. I saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. The suspension has newer rear shocks and looks to be in very good condition. This Olds really sits up awesome with the proud stance of a true 442 W-30. According to the OldsFaqs website that anyone can look up online only 1304 Cutlass/442 convertible models were made in 1971. What you see is exactly what you get! These mostly complete older classics that have survived for over 40 years are becoming harder and harder to find. Not many of these convertible's are left in existence. Especially in Nordic Blue!! Why not drive around in something that nobody else has? The Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has the 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible listed at $301,375 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. Nada has the average condition valued at $203,375, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! They have the lowest condition value at $145,875 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. Why not enjoy close to the same looking convertible for a fraction of those prices. A great deal of time, money, and effort went into bringing this classic muscle car convertible back to its former glory. This car is for the guy or girl that used to have one back in high school and would like to relive their youth or show everyone at their high school reunion how cool they still are. It may just be the perfect car for someone who simply wants to treat themselves to a classic muscle car convertible and enjoy their investment while their money increases in value. A lot of hard work goes into setting up and running a proficient auction, so each interested party knows what they are bidding on. If you feel there is anything else you would like to know simply ask. All questions will be answered in a timely fashion. This Oldsmobile is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these cars have consistently shown to escalate in value each quarter. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a reasonable price. This car is being stored safely indoors out of the elements until the lucky winning bidder has it picked up. The deposit will need to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance is due within 72 hours prior to pick-up or transport. If you need to ask your significant other or get approval before placing a bid please do so prior to making the purchase. The title is clean, clear, and free of liens issued in my name from the State of Indiana and could be sent out the same day the funds are clear or kept in the glove compartment with the original owner's manual for transport. Whichever way the winning bidder decides. I am a motivated seller, so this hard to find Nordic Blue classic muscle car convertible is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 3-day listing, and will sell to the highest bidder at 8pm Eastern time, 7pm Central time, and 5pm Pacific time on Sunday evening. Thank You for taking the time to read and view my auction!!! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!
