Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a very clean and good condition classic truck. Original father and son owners, this truck has been in the family since 1967 and has been well maintained. Read this description carefully! What you are buying: 1967 3/4 ton pickup truck with 122,000+ original miles, 98% factory original.Purchased at Galpin Ford in the San Fernando Valley in 1967, kept in LA for 11 yrs, then in downstate Illinois 3 yrs, been in Denver the last 30 years.Never in a wreck, never had even a fender bender.Used only very lightly since 1995 for light hauling with 250-1000 miles/rr. Prior to - 1987 the truck had an 8 ft cab over camper and was used on long haul trips only. Not garaged, it has always been stored outside.352 ci V-8, 208 HP engine, valve job at 90K miles. Starts and runs great. Drove it from Fairplay to Denver (100 miles) over a 10,000 ft pass without a hiccup recently.3-sp automatic transmission, completely rebuilt at 118K miles, shifts tight. Camper special package includes wiring harness to rear, dual gas tanks (20 & 25 gal), heavy duty rear leaf springs, and aftermarket rear step bumber.LT235/85R16 BF Goodrich radial all terrain T/A tires with <5000 miles16 in white steel wheels (not factory original)In-dash Pioneer FM/cassette stereo with in-door speakers (also not factory original). Sounds good.Aluminum camper shell. Shell is functional but has been dented by a few hail storms through the years. Newly replaced rear brakes and master cylinder. What needs work/buyer bewares: Paint is old (1994) and faded, it looks worse close up that in the photos. Significant chipping and blistering especially on the hood, doors, and top of cab; rear box looks fine and held up better for some reason. Purely cosmetic, but the truck should be repainted this year to preserve it.Two small areas of rust, both easily fixed. Small spot in lower drivers side door ( size of a half-dollar) and the lower passenger side cab corner has rusted out. Undercarriage rust is basically nil; no cancer even along the usual areas of box. I had the truck rust proofed when I moved to Illinois which they thought was nuts, but has paid off. The truck has been in snowy climates for 33 years.Rear gas tank sending unit does not work and requires pulling the tank to replace. Engine was designed to run on regular leaded gas. It runs fine on premium without pinging, runs OK on mid-grade, but it has a bad ping on regular especially at altitude under load. Padded dash has split in 3 locations and the area above the radio speaker totally rotted out. Needs to be replaced. I have found these in black for $400, but held off buying looking for an original blue replacement. Bench seat is original and upholstery is in surprisingly good condition, considering its age, with no splits or tears. But- the foam padding beneath has dried out, is flaking, and needs replacement. It's not real comfortable on a long drive.Lap belts only, no shoulder straps.Gas mileage is awful. Hey, gas was only $0.29/gal in LA in 1967 so give it a break....Restorers and old truck afficiandos: If you are looking for a 44 yr old truck to restore, this is an excellent choice and should be an easy project car. Here is what you will need to know to take it back to factory original:The steel wheels and tires are not factory original. It came with 16.5 inch split rim wheels, and tire dealers started refusing to work on them. All the original hood logos and cab trim pieces were removed prior to the 1994 repainting to minimize rust initiation, and I've since lost a few of them. When the finish is sanded out to repaint, the original holes will be apparent and easy to reopen. The first in-dash stereo was installed about 1978 and required enlarging the original radio opening. This is the only significant damage to the vehicle.Engine has not been rebuilt, it's only had a valve job, and it's getting close to needing it. Only uses a small amount of oil, but a little more that it did when new.The 1994 paint job was strictly to prevent rust and deterioration and is not the factory original blue. The vehicle is located in Denver Colorado. Buyer must come and get it or have it shipped. Good luck Bidding!
