Selling my 1998 GTI VR6. Low miles (80k) for a '98. The engine runs great, but it's fair to say that this is a project car. Interior leather is in good shape other than a tear in the back seat. But there are some issues: The body has considerable rust in some spots, due to a drainage problem, and water leaks into the car when it rains (I've covered it during the rainy season, but some water has gotten in). I'm the 2nd owner, and have been parking on the street since I purchased in in 2003, so there is some cosmetic wear, and a dent in the driver side door. This makes the drivers side power window catch a little but it's still operational. The passenger side power window needs work, as it gets stuck going up and reverses itself. The previous owner lowered the suspension, and installed 4 BBS wheels w/ low profile tires. As a result of the lowering, there have been issues with the suspension, and the bushings have had to be replaced. One of the BBS wheels was damaged, so the car currently has a stock wheel and tire in the right front position. There is damage to the front grille, and the emblem detached, but I still have it (see photo). Some body trim is separating, and the long piece of trim on the left side of the car detached, but I have that as well. In the interior, some separation of the leather underneath the driver and passenger windows, as well as a bit of separation on the ceiling liner (see photos). Aftermarket stereo faceplate doesn't make a good connection, so probably needs to be replaced. Power locks don't work. Includes power amp installed in the trunk, ad Thule roof rack with 2 bike attachments. Definitely needs (at least) brakes, tires and a new wheel to make it safe to drive. Also needs a new spare. In its day it was a great, fun, fast car. With some work it could be again!
