Vehicle Detail

1968 Cutlass S. Was recently found and purchased at a storage auction after having been in storage for nearly 30 years after original owner passed. Odometer reads 10187. Has the gold valve covers and is in very good shape for a nearly 50 year old car due to it being in storage so long. After towing it home I put a battery in it, aired up the tires and put some gas in the carb and actually drove it around the block to test it out. So it will start and run, but will obviously need some work after having sat so long. Please do not bid if expecting a "turn key" car, as this is a project, albeit a great starting point that you could be driving in a week or so. I'll try to cover as much about the car as I can below: Exterior: the paint was in rough shape and was an ugly green to begin with. I sanded it down and primered it. It's ready for a good sanding and either third coat of primer or paint color of your choice. Engine: have only started it the one time by pouring a little gas in the carb. The engine will definitely run and run strong. However the old girl will need some love to get her back to speed after sitting alone for 30 years if you plan to run her regularlyInterior: the bad news is the front two seats are in rough shape-hence the seat covers-but are still comfortable. Also the dash has a couple cracks in it that can be seen in the pictures. The good news is that the glass is all good all around and the back seat and carpet are actually close to new looking. The headliner is all there and has only 1 separation across 1 seam. The windows all roll down-front and back. The passenger door interior has been removed but is still there and has all the original hardware. The hood is missing a hinge but will open-it just has to be propped open for the time being. Just be careful, its heavy and you cold break a hand by not having it secured properly. I never replaced it as I found it easier to work on the engine by simply lifting and removing the the hood. The only other thing I'm aware of is the lock on the trunk is missing. It can be opened with a screwdriver but a replacement lock will be needed eventually. It is an automatic transmission and has the neat "slap shift" that is so rare and everyone wants nowadays. It is a desert car and has been its whole life with no visable rust on the body. The car does have an ac unit but I have no idea what's shape it's in. It comes with a clear Florida title-part of the whole deal of being a storage auction car. Will be moving for job soon and can't take it with me. My loss is your gain. I think that's it. If I remember anything else I'll post it here. Good luck and thanks for checking it out.
