Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a solid southern 1970 Jaguar E-Type Roadster with 47,357 original miles on it with both soft and hard tops. This is a 2-owner car. The car is Silver Gray with the Original Dark Blue Leather Interior. It has the original numbers matching 4.2L engine with its original 4 speed manual transmission. The Jaguar Certificate of Authenticity states the following: Make and Model Jaguar E-type Series 2 4.2 Litre Body Style Open Two-Seater, Left-Hand Drive Date of Manufacture 3 November 1969 Chassis Number 1R 11322 Engine Number 7R 8281-9 Body Number 4R 5769 Gearbox Number KE 9537 Transmission Manual Exterior Paint Colour Silver Grey Interior Trim Colour Dark Blue Hood (Soft Top) Colour Blue Original Distributor British Leyland, New York, USA Date of Dispatch 13 November 1969 The Second owner (Mr. Gose) purchased the car on September 11 1972 from a Lady in Knoxville Tennessee. He bought the car to drive on fair-weather days, and only drove the car sparingly. He had the car repainted in 1982 (the paint is showing its age). It was always Garage Kept. The car was last Licensed in 2007 but was parked a few years before that when he bumped the nose of the car pulling it in the garage. I purchased the car from Mr. Gose and his wife in June of 2017. The car hadn’t been started in over 10 years. I brought the car home, drained the gas, installed a new Delco battery, and replaced the original fuel pump with a new correct SU Fuel pump and new fuel filter. With new gas, and some Marvel Mystery Oil, the car started right up. I have driven it around my drive way, but I have not had it on the road. The car does start and run good. I have not cleaned the car up, it is exactly the way I found it in his garage (other than it runs now). Since the car wasn’t used in winter or rain, and always garage kept the car is one of the most solid jaguars I have ever seen! I have not found any rust. The floors, Rocker Panels, Trunk Floor, Bonnet, and Doors all appear to be RUST FREE. You can still see the seams in the rear trunk pan and all the spot welds! Other than the light damage in the bonnet the car shows no signs of ever being wrecked. This is a great Car! The car is selling with NO RESERVE so please look at the pictures and please feel free to email or call 865-621-4012 with any questions. On Jul-26-17 at 05:17:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I have several questions about the transmission. So I took it on a short drive yesterday just to make sure the transmission shifted through the gears good and it felt very good. The transmission shifted up and down very smoothly. The brakes felt good but they did seem to drag a little. I am sure that can be expected from sitting. I would hope they would get better with some driving. The engine felt smooth and had plenty of power. Feel free to email or call 865-621-4012 with any questions.
