Vehicle Detail
This is a 1998 Volvo V70R in fair to good condition for it's age; it's definitely a survivor. The current mileage is about 201,000+ and as it's daily driven, will obviously climb the longer this is for sale. This is a pretty unique car in that you really don't see first gen V70Rs much period, never mind maintained ones that have been daily driven for almost 20 years. Oil changes have been done every 5000 miles with full synthentic. It does burn about a quart between oil changes. Almost everything on the car works as it should: CD player with Dolby, heated seats, heated mirrors, rear wiper, etc. The car has fully functioning AWD that has worked great the past two winters with all the snow we've received.Maintenance and repairs for the past 1.5 years have been at WCS Auto in Rockland, a Volvo specialist with a sterling reputation. A lot has been done in that time frame, as well as by the prior owner a couple months before I bought it.The GoodRuns great and pulls hard under boost, does not smokeUpgraded headlights (off a C70, I believe)New tires all aroundVolvo Pegasus 17' wheels (one does have a gouge)In the past 15,000 miles or so-Front and rear rotors and pads-Complete timing belt service w/ waterpump, thermostat, and cam seals-Front control arms, sway bar links, tie rod assemblies-Radiator and associated hosesThe BadRear passenger window does not work; it needs a switch but since my son's rear facing car seat was on that side, I never worried about itThe paint on the bumper covers is really bad. The rest of the car is OK, or at least commensurate with the ageThere is a small spot of rust on the hood and some very slight bubbling on the passenger doorThe leather looks rough, but most of that is due to the dingy suede inserts (the bump in the rear center section was from a car seat I had just popped out for photos)It has some rattly trim. The rear liftgate is the worst of the bunchI have a folder with all of the maintenance and parts in my ownership as well as a good amount of work done by prior owners. This car isn't perfect, but it has a lot of life left for a unique vehicle that's getting rarer by the day. It's never left me stranded, but being an older vehicle, it has its quirks. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive. UPDATE: I noticed a small amount of oil under the car this week so I had WCS diagnose the issue and it is the rear cam seals. I was quote $280 for the job, which I thought was pretty good. I have purchased a new car so I did not have them make the repair. The drop is price is reflecting the work it will need. Someone can obviously keep driving it around with no issue, you would just need to keep your eye on the oil level and know it would need new seals sooner than later. The car is for sale locally so there is a chance the auction could end early. If you have any questions, just let me know.
