Vehicle Detail
1991 Alfa Romeo Spider - $12,000 (Scotts Valley, CA) Color: Rosso Miles: 54,500 Body: Straight, no Dings Interior: Seats reupholstered (before I bought the car); one crack in dashboard under windshield Paint: Good - one small chip on right rear quarter panel (see photos) Tires: 195/60R 15 Yokohama Avid Envirgor (about 1500 miles on them) Wheels: Original Phone Dials (Spare is Chromadora 14 inch) Top: very good condition; rear window is clear I've owned this car for about five years. When I first bought it I took it to a Bay Area Alfa shop and told them to fix any and all mechanical issues and to make any recommended improvements. Specific things done: - Complete diagnostic evaluation by Italian Performance in San Carlos - Fuel hoses replaced - Trailing Arm bushings replaced - Front and Rear shocks replaced with Blistens - Replaced Upper Control Arms - Replaced Lower Ball Joints - Replaced Idler Box - Replaced Tie-Rod Ends (6) - Replaced Catalytic Converter - Replaced O2 sensor - Fresh Gear Oil - New Belts - New Washer Reservoir - New (rebuilt) Alternator - IAP Frame Stiffener (really made a difference!) - New Battery - Gas and Oil sensors replaced - Tachometer calibrated - New Clutch, throw-out bearing, and resurfaced flywheel - New sound system - Amp, speakers, sub, head (~$3K) This has been a very reliable car (I drove it from Orange County to Santa Cruz before I made any improvements). Most of the work I had done on the car was preventative in nature, rather due to a failure. One of the appealing features of the 1991 and beyond Alfas is they went to an Electronic ignition - it always starts (not so for the pre-1991 cars) There are certainly less expensive Alfas out there, but many are trashed and not well looked after. If you buy one, be prepared to put some money into it. Just to provide some additional confidence, I will pay for Italian Performance to do a final check of the car and provide the report to you. Thanks for looking, Pat
