Vehicle Detail

This is my 928 that I've owned for over 31 years. I will try to show it's strengths and weaknesses. I will try to list pictures from angles showing condition. Pictures 8, 12 and 13 show close ups of panel flaws. Feel free to ask questions. Ebay requires a numeric listing for the odometer reading. The number I entered is what is on the odometer but it is not accurate. Porsches, and I think Mercedes both have a weak gear driving the odometer. I think this might be intentional to protect the odometer. There are sites online that sell a replacement gear. I made a guess at approximate mileage and replaced the gear. It broke again in a few days. The good...The car is very solid. Very few squeak/rattle issues. Runs down the road very straight. Strong braking. Starts quickly even if not driven for a lengthy period, such as in winter when it sits parked. It has had synthetic oil since I bought it. It has Dunlop tires. It is an original car, except for front seat upholstery and remote door lock. It has original "proper" unpolished Porsche wheels. The bad...The A/C doesn't work. There is a slow leak from the power steering pump. It works for months before I have to add fluid but it leaves oil spots. The switch on the passenger door that turns on the light when it is opened is gone. As indicated above the odometer doesn't work. The remote trunk/hatch release doesn't work. The motor to open it runs but the latch doesn't release. It works fine with the key. The passenger rear view mirror doesn't work properly in some directions. The radio has a problem with very loud static. The ugly...The car shows the effects of being used as a daily driver. Scratches, dings and a dent behind the rear tire. The dash was cracked and I installed a replacement cover that looked very good until the adhesive released. I used silicone, maybe urethane would have worked better. The passenger seat cracked so I recovered the front seats with a set from autointerior kits on ebay. The seats look better but the new covers are vinyl not leather. (I knew that when I bought them). There is pitting on the outside of the passenger window. There is no grille, only visable if I get down on my knees to look. Basically this is a strong running, solid car. I would drive it anywhere with confidence. I think it deserves an owner who would attend to the issues listed. Shipping costs seem high to me so I am wiling to drive it to an airport anywhere in the US for 50 cents a mile by google maps figures and an airplane ticket back to Omaha. I have to receive both in advance. I am willing to pick up a potential buyer at Omaha's airport to inspect the car at no charge. I am also willing to pick up the ultimate buyer at the airport or bus station after payment clears or right away if paying by cash in person. Sold as is. No warranty express or implied.
