Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1999 VW Cabrio GLS. The car runs and drives great and has no mechanical issues at all. I drive it about every other day to keep it in good shape. The only thing that I am aware of that is an issue is that there is a bad speed sensor somewhere. I have not had time to diagnose which one is bad. This will cause the BRAKE light to illuminate after driving 15 MPH and up. I have hooked up a scanner to the vehicle and there are no codes stored in the ECU. I cannot find any faults. The Heat Blows HOT and the AC Blows Ice cold. The only things that I can really find wrong with the car is the tear in the top and the Speed sensor. The are a couple quirks like the power top function does not work, but I can raise and lower it with one hand, the blinker has to be manually turned off after making a left hand turn, and the rear cup holder is broken, and the car does not actually lock, but the alarm can be armed with the key. (I'd rather someone open the door than tear a hole in the soft top) The heated seats do work, all windows work, power mirrors work, alarm works, cluster works, everything works other than what I disclosed. This is the newer generation, BUT with the better older ABA engine. (Better in my opinion) It is a manual transmission that shifts smoothly into every gear. The stock radio works and sounds decent. There is a small amount of rust in the known problem areas for this car. Both wheel arches at the front of the vehicle at the bottom rear have a small amount of rust, and the front left strut tower is starting to rust. Other than that it is just normal wear and tear on the paint. The interior is in very good condition. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 for the condition. There is some noticeable wear, but no tears or rips. ****The Soft Top is taped up along the back seam to keep it from leaking**** The car is lowered on what seems to be a very decent set of coil-overs. The ride is very nice for being lowered. There is also an aftermarket exhaust on the vehicle. The Gauge cluster has been changed. The previous owner did say that the odometer is reading 30K too high which puts this car at 140K. Recent work done to the car within the last 1K Miles: -Thermostat -Thermostat Housing-Lower hose connector-Lower Radiator Hose-Upper Radiator hose "The snake of a hose"-Fuel Pump Relay-Front End Alignment-Pair of new Tires-Serpentine Belt-Power Steering Belt-Coolant Flush-Oil Change-Oil Filter-Air Filter-Spark Plugs-Cap-Rotor-AC Work-Exhaust Work I live in Winchester VA. The car does have a current VA inspection. If you want to come take a test drive just send me a message and I will get back to you ASAP. I do require a deposit of $500.00 after initial purchase off of eBay.
