Description This is being re-listed due to a non responsive winning bidder. Please bid only if you intend to follow through at the end of the auction. You are looking at an outstanding 1971 BMW R60/5 with 32303 original miles. It has had one local owner and has been garage stored since 1987 and saw the light of day for the first time a few months back. Please scroll down and enjoy the 100+ photos. Below is a video of the machine in action: Condition Report: Mechanically, the bike has been garage stored, well maintained and driven until 1987 when it was stored away. Our mechanic helped pull it from the garage and we put a new battery in the bike, added oil in the cylinders and gently worked the engine to ensure nothing was damaged. We also had him completely rebuild the carbs, replace the air cleaner, filters and hoses before attempting to start the bike. We then replaced the plugs, and he rebuilt the petcocks. It started right up and runs fairly smooth. We did not change the fluids or attempt any riding aside from a quick lot circle to ensure the clutch and brakes worked. While it runs and drives, we recommend a complete filter and fluid change, tires, brake check, valve adjustment, and other maintenance before running the bike. We have no way to know the condition of the brakes, transmission, tires, and other components is unknown. Cosmetically, it shows patina but is one of the most original bikes we have seen. The headlight, directionals, gauge lights and brake light work. Cosmetically, it is in great shape. The gas tank is beautiful aside from some paint wear and loss as shown, and aside from some cleaning and polishing, it is in great original shape. These are truly a German motorcycle masterpiece and this is a super nice unmolested original. It has a clear title as well. It would be a great project bike for that vintage cruiser or other purpose. Additional auction information: This vehicle is sold as-is. Any of these should be trailered to their destination until the vehicle is checked over for safety (tires, etc). The title is free and clear, and we are also requiring a bill of sale be signed by the new owner stating this vehicle is being purchased as-is.
