Vehicle Detail
I will probably end up regretting this, but . . . Up for sale is my 1984 Porsche 928S, European (German) model. Since this is the European version, it can produce 310 bhp and 295 lbft of torque (engine type: M28.22). (By comparison, the North American version for that year produced 243 bhp and 263 lbft of torque.) There is no belt currently attached to the A/C compressor--it's been that way since I bought it--and it features a K&N air filter, which should further facilitate the power output. I have owned this car for nearly six years. My schedule and logistic issues have resulted in me driving the car very infrequently and I have put only ~2,500 miles on it over that time. My original plan was to fully restore the car, but due to growing time constraints, I was not able to do that. I hate to have the car just sit in my garage for extended periods of time and I think, sadly, that it is time to let it go and let someone else enjoy it. The instrument panel is in German, which is cool (don't worry, there is an English manual to guide you). The car comes with a new battery and wiper blades, a fifth (matching) rim, a battery tender, a GPS, and miscellaneous parts, including a new oil filter and oil plug rings, new transmission filter kit, new timing belt, new A/C belt, two pairs of new brake pads, and replacement bulbs. As the pictures suggest, the car is not perfect; however, it has a lot going for it and has been mechanically sound and dependable for me. I believe I am the fourth owner of the car. I have at least some of the service paperwork from the previous owner. As far as issues that I can think of or am aware of . . .The car needs new tires. It will need new brakes installed soon (again, two pairs of new brake pads are included). The driver's side window does not currently go down (I think the window will need a new motor, but I have not had time to investigate it). It needs a paint job--especially on the roof. The power steering seems to have a leak somewhere that requires refilling (with ATF) from time-to-time. The leather on the front seats, the left, rear seat, and the front, middle armrest show wear. There are cracks on the dash. Also, there is a Sony radio installed (prior to me owning the car), but it is not wired up. [BTW, if it does need a new window motor, I have seen them sell online for between $57 and $89 (and up, of course) . . . and I have been told that it may be identical to the window motor in many SAAB automobiles.] VIN: WP0ZZZ92ZES840478Please note that this vehicle was intended for the European market and, therefore, the above VIN is not recognized by the eBay system. On Apr-21-17 at 07:05:04 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Based on some of the questions I've been getting and other listings that were brought to my attention, I thought I should add some information. The M28.21/22 engine found in my 928S was sold to the European market from September 1983 to July 1986. At 310 bhp (DIN) @ 5900 RPM, it was the most powerful of the 16-valve (or 4.7L) engines Porsche put into the 928, delivering nearly the same horsepower as the more complex engine in the 928S4 (introduced for the 1987 model year), which provided 320 bhp (DIN) @ 6000 RPM. (There is a great book by Brian Long entitled "Porsche 928" if you'd care for more details.) Other tidbits:--The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 85,742 miles (2010). A timing belt tension tool is also included with the car, as well as a "Porsche 928/928S Models, Dimensions, Tolerances" booklet and some spare fuses. --When I changed the oil in the car I used Mobil 1. --I never had trouble with the car passing New York State inspection when I lived there. While in New York, I drove the car on a number of 1-2 hour trips without a problem (well, except for one speeding ticket, but let's not go there). --The car has been with me in Ohio now for nearly two years and has historic plates. The title is clear and is in my name. While in Ohio, I have only driven the car a few times on short drives. I drove it for a few miles just before listing it on eBay, but the sidewalls of the tires are suspect and I am hesitant to drive it too far or fast at the moment (plus the brake pad wear warning light then popped on). I thought about putting new tires on it, but then decided to just sell it as is and the new owner can choose the tires he or she prefers . . . and, honestly, it meant one less thing I needed to fit into my schedule.--The middle portion of the front lower chin spoiler lip (i.e., the section between the air vents) is missing. Looking again at my pictures, I'm not sure they convey that clearly . . . sorry. Anyways, if you have any additional questions, please just let me know, and thanks for checking out my listing.
