Vehicle Detail
PLEASE NOTE THAT 2nd GEAR IS OUT. I purchased this bike in Fort Worth, TX about five years ago and it had been stored in a shop a few years with the tank and float bowls drained. The owner had stopped riding it after the second gear started to slip. I cleaned out the tank and put in a battery and got it to start but the carbs needed cleaning. At that point I got sidelined with life and other projects until last month when I pulled the carbs and went through them. I don’t believe they had ever been removed the idle mixture caps were still intact and it still has the original airbox and jetting and even has the original tool kit. The bike now starts right up but runs rich in the lower rpm’s when it warms up warm. I suspect a leaking needle valves in one or more of the carbs so a little more carb work is needed, but the dirty work was done as I spent several hours cleaning them. I also replaced the throttle cable, fuel petcock, and spark plugs at that time. I was able to ride the bike and confirm that the second gear is out. The motor is tight and does not smoke or make any unusual noises and I also changed the oil. The tank is almost perfect with one noticeable scratch shown in the photo. The upper fairing, right mid, and lowers have been touched-up. One of the tabs on the left mid is broken off (not visible mounted) and there is a crack in the upper where it attached (see photos). The turn signals in the rear are attached with double sided tape so I believe the holes are for the factory reflectors. I have the original rear turn signals but the mounts were cut from the bracket. I flushed the brakes and clutch fluid and they all work fine with no dragging brakes. I added a rear stainless brake line since the original was plugged up. My KLR battery happens to fit for testing so a new battery will be required. All the lights work but you have to pull in the clutch to start it so the neutral switch may be out or not making good contact. The is a custom aluminum V section between the lower fairings that looks cool but I have the stock one in perfect shape to go with it. I also have a brand new Vance and Hines canister in the box that goes with it. Overall, the bike is very clean and has typical wear for the age and mileage. These slab sides are getting harder to find now and many consider it to be the first sport bike. I have a lot going on and it will be a while before I can get to this one so i thought i might free up some space int eh garage. I can assist with shipping or deliver up to 50 miles for free.
