The GT500 KR was not an exception to this rule. Despite a sticker of nearly $80,000, and a sometimes lofty dealer premium, the cars sold quickly to lifelong Ford enthusiasts looking to get their hands on the modern pony machine with some hints of retro flavor.  The motor, which cranks out a solid 540 HP includes an intoxicating supercharger whine, and snappy acceleration that will have you dipping into the gas pedal more often than you probably should. Despite the raw power, and performance nature of the KR, the car is docile around town and could be a daily driver. Also, the KR has what is arguably one of the best factory exhaust systems you'll find in any car, with a muscular roar that will draw the attention of any car aficionado on the planet.  A more aggressive rear axle ratio of 3.73:1 and a power increase over the standard GT500 produce a sprint to 60 MPH in the low 4's and with a quarter mile in the low 12s. Pretty smoking fast for a 3900 lb car. The positive engagement and overall tight feel make rowing through the 6-speed gear box a thing of satisfaction. Handling was also a focus on the KR with a completely tuned up chassis courtesy of the folks at SVT. The shocks received new valving, all of the springs were stiffened, and a front spoiler was added for additional stability at speed. Goodyear actually developed a stickier tire compound for the Eagle F1 tire that was used on the KR, while the tire remains the same size as on the standard GT 500.
