Selling my "matching numbers" no rust 2 owner California car with 129K miles on it. Recently purchased from the 2nd owner but due to losing my dry storage space I've decided to sell it and let someone else be the custodian of it. History is as follows: 2nd owner purchased it from the original owner in 1983. Soon after the 2nd owner purchased the car, he took a job in Japan and the car was stored at his parents house in Oregon for the next 30 years. He would come back to the states periodically to visit them and drive the 912 but a lot of the time the car sat in an open carport with a cover over it. After retiring a few years ago and returning to the states, he decided to restore the car as moisture from all those years of outside storage took it's toll on it. He started off with having the floor pans and front suspension pan changed and then opted for a bare metal windows out repaint in the original "Polo Red" color as the car cover had trapped moisture between it and the body and lifted a lot of the paint after 30 years of long term storage. All decos, rubber seals, window channels, hood shocks, turn signal lenses, engine sound deadening pad, etc were replaced at the same time. Doors fit and shut nice. Sunroof opens and closes properly. VIN is 459563 with engine# 751737. Trans is 163573 which is the original 902/0 4 speed. Wheels are 5.5" Fuchs including the spare. Car has recently been completely sorted out mechanically and is a no excuses excellent driver with strong running original motor and smooth shifting trans. No oil leaks and no smoke, even on start up. Weber carbs with 050 distributor and Pertronix. Master cylinder was updated with a later dual circuit one and new battery installed at the same time. All lights and gauges work properly with the exception of the clock. Car is ready for a new owner to enjoy driving!
