Vehicle Detail

The original owner of this 1969 black Datsun was James Swedlow of Scranton, CA. Swedlow had purchased the car new on October 30th 1968 from Knox Motors, Alhambra, CA. This information can be found in the original Warranty and Service Booklet, which includes dealer stamps. Swedlow sold the car in 2006 to Ron Eastman from Whittier, CA. The car was not in driving condition, the original title, registration and keys had been lost. A duplicate title was issued by the DMV and California Highway Patrol to retain the original black plates issued with the vehicle. Ron Eastman was then going to make the car into driving status. Eastman had replaced or reconditioned the brakes, engine, wheels, suspension, and the interior. In September of 2007, at a Japanese Classic Car show the previous owner, Ron Eastman was approached by Jeff Koch of Hemmings Sport and Exotic Magazine. By March 2008, Ron and his Datsun had a featured article with photographs published online. https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/hsx/2008/03/Daily-Driven-Datsun---1968-1600-Roadster/1599091.html By August of 2012, I became the 3rd owner of the car. The original Datsun owner’s manual and Warranty and Service Booklet come with the car. The current condition of the vehicle is as purchased. The exterior is all original paint with many chippings and dings throughout. There are no known rust other than a spot under front fender ( can be seen in pictures). The engine has Race Cam in it (As per last owner). A compression test has been recently done. #1 120, #2 125, #3 120, #4 120. A new battery has been placed in the vehicle. The brakes have been bled. The car runs nicely but will need a new carb set, due to old gas. The car does have a leaking differential seal. The red interior has been redone. Inside the trunk of the car are the original carpets, seat covers, door panels, and a copy of the Hemmings magazine. The soft top is in good working condition as well. There is an ignition key for the vehicle, but the trunk can only be opened by pulling on a blue nylon wire under the base of the trunk near the rear bumper. This vehicle restoration and more detailed conversation from the original owner can be found at http://www.higenki.com/roadster/22493/index.htm It is a well sorted car that is over 40 years old! A total of 50,000 Roadsters were made, and just 5,800 in 1968. We encourage and are happy to arrange inspections. Please call 317.502.2107. The car is located in Indianapolis, IN. Vehicle is sold As-Is, Where-Is and Buyer is responsible for shipping.
