Vehicle Detail
The BMW R 69 S VIN 657088 was manufactured on May 02nd, 1962 and delivered on September 06th, 1962 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat. This came from the BMW archive. I have here a rare 1962 BMW R69S Motorcycle. It's a great candidate project for restoration. Or you can rebuild the engine and leave on the great patina it already has. The story is it was found in a warehouse that was sold and then the bike was stored in another clean dry warehouse for over 30 years. The motor is seized but it looks like the oil slingers clogged up at the 40K mile mark as usual. It's a NUMBERS MATCHING bike. However the engine block looks to have been restamped at the factory or during a repair at some point. The tank is one of the cleanest ones inside I've ever seen. Small dent shown on tank. At some point the tank was painted but that is fading off and going back to the original paint. The frame paint is clean and original and the fenders are as well. At some point the front fender was cut down. It's missing the mufflers and the air cleaner. The Bings are number synched but will need to be gone through as well. Needs a battery but I was able to test the electrical system as you can see in the photos. The spark plugs were removed as well and will need some spark plug wiring done. It's a great candidate for a restoration and they are not getting any easier to find or cheaper for that matter. The bike is as found minus the bench seat and mufflers (They were rusted out real bad) as seen on the flatbed photo. I have some other solo seat parts not shown. The Denfeld seat has some parts but is not complete. I have the tool kit that came with it as shown. It might be missing one wrench or one was added to the kit.I prefer pick up of the bike but will ship with the buyer picking up the shipping bill. Bill of sale included. Title is long gone but I have the Moto-Recycle Bill of Sale form to get the title stuff going signed over to you.
