Vehicle Detail

1967 Firebird  Convertible           Many large pictures  following the description.       This is an excellent driver quality convertible that needs little or nothing to be an outstanding, fun car for cruising. Perhaps the best color combination Pontiac offered in 1967, this car always gets great comments. Originally  a 326 two barrel with three speed manual and drum brakes, this 67 Firebird has been redone and upgraded to a Pontiac 428 with 3 speed turbo 400 automatic.  Excellent condition, less than 600 miles since finally completing frame  off rebuild. Repainted the original Tyrol blue using modern base/clear  paint with all new deluxe parchment interior and new white top, plus 15"  Rally wheels with new BFG white letter tires, this is one sharp looking  car, restored to as-built condition with the exception of upgrading the  powertrain.       Cowl tag info is: 67-22667 LOR 9607 1967 convertible built in Lorain plant 260-Z F-1 Custom Interior - parchment Tyrol Blue with white top       Mechanically almost everything has been rebuilt. Subframe was completely  rebuilt - sand blasted, epoxy primed, then satin black epoxy paint. All  new front suspension -springs, shocks, ball joints, bushings, tie rod  ends - plus all new front disc brakes w/new vacuum booster and master  cylinder. New KYB gas shocks all around. 15" rally 2 wheels with  stainless trim rings, new BFG white letter tires.           Engine is a Pontiac 428 with very low miles since rebuild. Heads are 7K3,  generally regarded as best heads for the 428 with reguolar, moern gasoline.  Has new Edelbrock Performer carburetor, Pertronix electronic ignition  (in original distributor), Turbo 400 3 speed automatic transmission with  improved, firmer shifts. New factory style dual exhaust system - without  resonators which gives it a more aggressive sound than factory - see the  video. Interior has all new seat covers and door and rear quarter trim panels  in the original parchment color, factory correct console and shifter,  dash pad is new correct reproduction. I added a radio delete center trim  plate on the dash and a repro wood steering wheel when the interior was  redone. Top is new, professionally installed, excellent fit. This is a power top  and it operates as it is supposed to. Car had just been repainted in original  factory Tyrol blue when I purchased it about 6 years ago. It is excellent  driver quality paint -not show car quality, but very good driver quality.  Rear bumper is new. Trunk has correct hound's-tooth mat and spare cover.    The mechanical upgrades and subframe rebuild were completed about 3 years  ago. Pictures include some of the rebuild showing the subframe and solid  floors and trunk on the car. Floor was also covered with dynomat type  of heat/sound insulation. Undercarriage is solid, undercoated. This car  really looks great with the blue exterior, white top and parchment interior.  Always gets enthusiastic thumbs up when driven around town or taken to  a show. Miscellaneous - new (Summit) oil and temp gauges mounted on console, heavy  duty trans cooler, top frame rebuilt including new front latches, new  heater core installed but currently bypassed, new gas gauge sending unit,  new brake lines, new core support and many more small details either new  or redone.Small amount of paint included for touchup if needed, paint  code is on the can. Headlights are correct T3 (one high beam only headlight  not working). A few minor issues,  all things that just didn't bother me enough to correct. The side windows  have some small scratches. There is a small dent on the stainless trim  under the windshield. The felt and rubber seals on window track on the  back of the vent windows are not in good condition. There is a crack (not  very noticeable) on the plastic bottom of the grille. Small leak at rear  seal on trans (very common unfortunately). Horn does not work - steering  wheel button and horn relay are good, needs new horns. Speedometer gear  in transmission doesn;t match actual rear axle ratio - speedometer reads  high. Easy to fix, just not something that bothered me. This is the 6th Pontiac I have restored in the last 20 years and I always  do the car assuming I will keep it forever - but seldom do since for me  restoring them is at least as much fun as driving them. Two have been  show car restorations - a 1970 Trans Am that took best in show at a major,  invitation only judged show, and a 1966 GTO tri-power 4 speed that won  several local judged shows. Learned that show cars can't be driven and  remain show cars, so recent cars have been restored as very nice drivers  - much more fun to own..   There's not much if  anything to be done - maybe add a sound system if no radio isn't your  preference, add a kickdown switch for the trans - wiring is there, a switch  is needed either on the engine or on the gas pedal for throttle downshifts  and it hasn't bothered me enough to install one. Maybe replace the 326  hood emblems with 428 (they are available). Or just enjoy it exactly the  way it is. I don't race this car, just cruise on nice summer evenings  with the top down, go to the occasional cruise night or car show, probably  have put less than 600 miles on the car since completing the mechanical  restoration.         ...so you are bidding on a very nice driver quality car in a gorgeous  color combination (best they built IMHO), with all new front suspension,  rebuilt 428 engine with Turbo 400 trans, all new interior, new top, new  wheels and tires, new front disc brakes, new badges and trim, recent base/clear  paint - not a show car but a really nice driver to have a lot of fun with.  Time for another retirement project (I've had this one for about 6 years),  and I like this one so well that the new project is....a highly optioned,  Tyrol blue, white top, 400 automatic 67 Firebird convertible that is very  solid but in need of some TLC, new paint, new top, new interior and more.  Check back in 5 years...                 New parts list - partial                 core support         subframe bushings         engine mounts         all front suspension bushings         ball joints         tie rod ends         front springs         disc brake system (all new conversion)         brake booster         brake master cylinder         front brake lines         front and rear gas shocks         dash pad         front and back seat covers         door panels         window and door handles         rear quarter interior trim         wood steering wheel         convertible top         convertible well liner         top latches         refurbished power top frame         rear bumper         exhaust system         alternator         all exterior badges         BFG white letter tires         rally wheel center caps         Edelbrock 600 cfm carb         rebuilt Pontiac 428         rally 2 wheels bead blasted, primed and painted, new stainless trim rings             Car is being sold as-is, no warranty.
