Vehicle Detail

This is a Real 66 Fastback "K" code 289 HiPo with an original GT package. I recently bought this car after doing extensive research to verify it is real. After crawling thru the entire car I will promise you this is the real deal. I will be 100% honest on my description and will answer every question you have. i am not here to say that I am the absolute best mustang guy out there but I have owned at least 20 stangs and do know my fair share. Please do your diligences just as I did. Let me start with the exterior:The car has been fully restored by a professional. The body work and clear coat paint are well above average to excellent. The car has no signs of bondo or rust. The sheet metal is laser straight and the vintage burgundy paint is mirror like! The driver side front fender has a slight more gap on the bottom than the top ( not distracting but being honest ). The hood on the passenger side has a slight bigger gap than the drivers side. Again, we all know these cars were hand built and panels were not as perfect as they are now... Again not distracting. All chrome and trim look better than new. Paint in the cabin is great. There are zero paint runs or scratches anywhere. Not even rock chips. The wheels look to be original rims and not replacements. Trim rings look new. Glass is new and scratch free. All lights and turn signals work. The entire car functions as should. All gauges work including the clock and 8,000 rpm tach. The original steering wheel is perfect and the horn works. I am very happy to say that the entire floor is original and never replaced... Again there are no rust signs anywhere. Now let's talk interior:Perfect is all I can say! The carpet has obviously been replaced and the burgundy color is very good. Seats are obviously original seats but have been reupholstered using pony seat covers. According to Mustang Decoder the interior would have been Parchment Crinkle and Rosette Vinyl in standard interior. Yes the colors are absolutely correct and I do know the pony seats would not have been on the car new but man does it look great! Seats, door panels, and headliner are near perfect. Original kick panels have a few foot scuffs but no rips or cracks! I would consider the interior great and near new condition. All seat belts are coded correctly and look original. All windows work perfectly and door handles are so smooth. Doors open and close with the push of a finger. So easy and no hang ups. Now let's wrap up with drive train:I have personally driven this car and personally inspected major stamp numbers proving the 289 HiPo. The block stamp is C5AE 6015 E. Intake is C50E 9425 A. Distributor is a correct HiPO with no vacuum advance but is a motorcraft and should have been autolite new. The car does not have the original carburetor, it is a holly 4 barrel but does run and idle great. (If you have an original HiPo carb I will buy it from you!). 2 other notable things on the engine... The plastic clear fuel filter is not correct and yes.... The power steering is a real dealer installed power steering with rack and Pinion. I talked with several people and it was common to add power steering since non power steering was not very friendly for daily driving. Harmonic balancer is a real HiPo balancer and the alternator is correct. The engine does not leak a drop of any oil. This engine is very tight and you can drive it like you stole it! The transmission is correct 4 spd top loader with stamp C5AR 7006 D and the tail housing is C6OR 7A040 C. 9" rear diff is correct with C5AW 4668 A. 3.89 gears. If the car sits for about 4 weeks there are about 2 drops of rear diff oil. As for the GT options I have read several articles and I can not find any flaws in proving the GT. The original wire harness is in the car with the original fog light switch and yes... The rear running lights do come on when the fog light switch is on. The "original" radiator support is accident free and has all the correct holes for the fog lights. Holes are pressed with a lip, not drilled. The bigger sway bar is correct and heavier springs are correct. Everyone says to search for the correct exhaust studs and holes in the body for GT option.... Yes they are there as well as the special brake line routing for the dual exhaust and correct rear valence with the trumpet exhaust. Ok.... I have done my part. Please ask questions. This car drives great and can be raced to the car shows, no need to trailer! As for the price... I am asking a VERY fair price. Do your research and see what these K code fastbacks have been selling for over the past 8 months. $60,000-$90,000 and if you buy at auction you will pay 10% buy fee. This car is absolutely Barrett Jackson quality but I don't want to pay the 8% sell fee either! We can talk about negotiating but if someone hits the buy it now price at $65,000 it is theirs and well worth it. This car is true investment grade quality and will absolutely increase in value as time rolls on! I have the car insured for $90,000 with Hagerty. Thank you for looking and I will talk or text with anyone. Good luck!Clay (505)402-1558 Ps.... every one has opinions on the power steering. I understand that K codes did not come with Power steering. I was simply letting everyone know that this car has added power steering. Whether it was done at a dealership or not, ( i was informed some dealers did install power steering back in the day ) it does have power steering now.
