You are bidding on a beautiful incredibly low mileage vintage 1981 barn-find Mercedes SL. The car was bought in 2006 as a project that I never got around to completing. It has been driven just 32,321 miles. Previous owner said it was stored and not run for many years, and was advertised as Carfax-correct mileage when I bought it. Mercedes has a cleared Ohio title, VIN WDBBA45A3BB000806. Engine is an 8 cylinder, automatic. I did get it running, and had stored it in my concrete-floor shop since 2006. The engine sounds healthy and revs freely. New spark plugs and correct new battery installed. Dash gauges seem to respond as they should. In limited low speed driving, transmission seems to engage as it should. Since the car has been in storage for decades all the fluids and brakes need to be changed before the car is put into regular use. Outside, the car presents well, and has a nice level stance. Paint is in very good condition, all exterior body panels are solid and clean. Surface rust is not an issue. Chrome is driver-quality. All glass is nice except some vertical scratches at the back end of the driver's door glass. Hard-top removes and installs easily. As is the case with most 30+ year old soft-tops, it is in poor shape and needs replaced, though the frame folds and unfolds nicely. Inside, the seats are in amazing shape for a 30+ year-old car. But, like any 30+ year old car, the 1980's plastic and vinyl parts on dash, door panels and center console need attention or replaced. The power windows have brand new motors and roll up and down correctly. So here we have a car with extremely low miles that has sat in storage for decades. It does start, run, and do all the basic functions a car should do. The exterior parts are near perfect. The seats are great and can be polished to look like new. It is now awaiting a new owner, parked at a repair facility in the Akron Canton area, minutes from the Akron Canton airport.
