Vehicle Detail

LAST CAHNCE!!!! Had a buyer, but he backed out and forfeited his deposit, so his loss is your gain. Please make sure you have the funds to purchase BEFORE bidding. If it doesn't sell this time around I will start parting the car out. Selling my 2001 Mercedes CLK430 convertible. This car has a SALVAGE TITLE and cannot be legally driven until it has been repaired, inspected, and a reconstructed title issued. I bought this car from a friend of mine after the accident and was bought back from the insurance company with the intention of fixing it for myself. Unfortunately, my friend who was going to do the major repairs is unable to do so now, and I don't have the ability to do it myself. I was going to just part it out, but decided to put it up as-is in case someone else wanted to save it. So here it is. 2001 Mercedes Benz CLK430 Convertible. 71,590 original miles, 4.3L V8 gas engine and automatic transmission. Car still runs and drives just fine and there is no frame or suspension damage that would affect drivability (the "crush zones" in the rear trunk area ARE damaged and need repair though). The car was rear ended at a relatively low speed that pushed in the rear bumper and buckled the passenger side quarter panel. The hit also pushed the car forward a little into the car in front of it. The front bumper cover cracked (repairable) and the lower edge of the hood got a little bend and paint chipped off (repairable). The crossbar of the radiator support also got bent in a little and can be straightened with little trouble (no need to replace support). Mechanically, the engine and trans are solid with low miles. Only notifiable issue i see is that it has a minor oil leak from the valve cover gaskets. This is a common issue with these and is easily repaired. Would probably do a tune up as well as I don't know if it was ever done with the mileage being so low. Other than that, everything seems to work fine. Interior wise, the car is pretty nice, but has the usual seem separations on the front seats as can be seen in the pics. Also a very common issue with these cars. The leather is in pretty nice shape otherwise as is the rest of the interior. Could use a good detailing as it has been sitting a few months now. The airbags did NOT deploy from the accident, so that is not an issue. Convertible top is in good shape and worked fine before the accident. I haven't tried to lower it now due to the buckled quarter panel. Wasn't sure if the buckled quarter panel would affect anything and didn't want to risk damaging the mechanism. Body wise, what you see is what you get. Needs a rear bumper, decklid and right tail light replaced. The right quarter panel and the rails inside the trunk will need to be straightened as you can see in the pics. I tried to get multiple angles so you could see what you are dealing with here. Up front, the minor damage is repairable without parts replacement I believe. The hood is a factory OEM replacement that was just put on about a year ago and the lights are aftermarket replacements that were done at the same time. A good body guy with access to the right equipment can fix this car easy. An amateur, not so much. There is a few spots where the factory paint is "sun burnt". You can see most of it in the pics along the top of the drivers quarter panel and the right quarter panel by the fuel door. This can obviously be addressed during the body repairs. Other notable things would be that it has aftermarket 17" wheels with pretty much brand new Falken tires. They have maybe 2000 miles on them before the accident and are still in great shape. Other than that, just look at the pics and decide for yourself. It is a very fixable car. Would be perfect for someone who has a body shop or works at one and wants a project as most of the repair work needed is labor, not a lot of parts needed. Could have a really nice low mileage Benz for not a lot of money. Car is located in Collegeville, PA, about 1/2 hour or so northwest of Philadelphia. Buyer needs to pick the car up here in person or arrange for shipping on their own. I will not quote or arrange any shipping services, this will be up to you. The can will drive onto a trailer or carrier just fine, just needs to be jump started as the trunk not being able to close properly drains the battery. Car has a PA Salvage title that will be given to the buyer. Potential buyers are more than welcome to come inspect the car in person before bidding. But please keep in mind that a winning bid is a binding contract to purchase the vehicle, not buying an appointment to see it. A $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of winning and the balance due within 7 days by cash or cashiers check. The vehicle can be stored for up to 2 weeks at no charge to allow you to arrange pick-up or shipping. Any longer than that will need to be discussed prior to bidding, as long as the car is paid for within the required 7 days. Any question, feel free to contact me. Can arrange viewing the vehicle pretty much any time if needed. Thanks
