· The Mercedes-Benz SL is a grand touring roadster manufactured by Mercedes since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German Sportlich-Leicht, (Sport Lightweight) and was first applied to the iconic 300 SL. The 1984 380SL variant is a 2-seat convertible/roadster with a standard soft top and optional color matched hardtop. · Finished in Anthracite Gray metallic, this roadster shows extremely well with only minor scratches and dings indicative of a well-cared and driven classic. All the trim is present, complete and displays a high gloss sheen with no patina or clouding. The front and rear bumpers are rust free with no scratching or dings. The chrome remains brilliant while the original rubber moldings are smooth with no cracking or smudges. The folding convertible top is in original conditions still fitting tight and the windows are clear with no “yellowing” or clouding. The weather-stripping is pliable, with no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage The original rims are mounted with Michelin tires with considerable tread remaining. · Inside, the Palomino wrapped interior is original with only slight wearing. The matching door panels, carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the timeless cabin design and are in pristine condition. All gauges are correct in appearance and function as originally designed. The air conditioning and heat both operate flawlessly. Both of the powered windows open and close smoothly. Cruise control functions, as do all of the mirrors, lights, and switches. The original cassette player has been upgraded to a Kenwood CD player with optional Sirius. The Sirius has a built in magnetic antenna that’s installed on to the rear trunk lid. The “colored” display on the Kenwood player is matched to the rest of the interior lights. The front speakers have been replaced and upgraded. · The SL “R107” is easily one of the most recognizable and desirable Mercedes ever produced. What really sets this one apart from other SLs is its color combination and rich, gleaming exterior. The 1984 380Sl has the upgraded double timing chains installed.
