Vehicle Detail

Up for sale I have a 1983 Honda ATC 250r in good condition. However this is an AS-IS sell. The engine and carb have been rebuilt (scroll down for details) The only engine problem is that it has a very small oil leak from the bottom end. Cosmetic wise there are 2 small holes in the seat, some chips in the paint and a crack in the rear plastic. Other than that this bike runs like new and is extremely fun to ride! I am selling it because I am a busy, broke college student. If that wasn’t the case I would definitely keep it for myself. I have the pink slip as well. If you have any questions or would to see the bike in person feel free to email me and I will respond as soon as possible. New parts List: •Crank bearings •Boysen Power Reeds •Spark plugs •"New" seals (They do not hold oil really well) •All new fluids •New brake oil cup •Air filter •Registration •Rear tires •Engine bore & hone •Wiseco Piston •Carb Rebuild Backstory: This bike has been in our family for 30 years. My grandfather purchased it used way back in 1985 in an almost new condition, the previous owner didn’t ride it that much and it was stored in a garage for those 2 years. My grandpa, Dad, Uncle and their cousins all rode it up to the mid 90’s. After every ride my grandpa would check the fluids and clean out the carburetor keeping the bike in excellent running condition. In the mid 90’s the bike was put in the desert to live with my great uncle. It didn’t get ridden almost at all and sat and baked in the destructive desert sun for about 5 years until the year 2000. In 2000 my grandfather passed away and my uncle wanted to keep the bike from being sold so he took it home. When he got it he put all new fluids in it and it started… and then stopped. My uncle said it felt like the piston had seized and he never got around to fixing it so there it sat for another 15 years in his garage. In the summer 2015 my uncle asked me if I would like it as a project to work on and I thought yeah sure why not. He said he really didn’t care what I did with it, whether I parted it out or threw it away, he just wanted it out of his garage. When I went to pick it up and he was telling me the back story of it and I immediately knew I wanted to get it up running again and surprise him; so that’s what I did. I started first by taking the top end off to get a new piston but quickly figured out that the bottom end had the problem. After dismantling the whole engine I found the problem to be a shot main crank bearing so I ordered a set of new ones and replaced them. I decided while I had it apart to go ahead and get it bored out and acquire a new piston because upon inspection I noticed the original piston was cracked and the head was all messed up from a piece of the piston that popped off and bounced around inside the top end for who knows how long. I then decided new reeds and a new air filter were a must so I purchased those along with some new seals for everything. When I put it all back together and the engine back in the bike I noticed that the bottom end had a small leak!! I was so mad about that but it was too small to worry about, as long as you check the oil before riding you should be golden. The first time I kicked the bike and it fired up was like music to my ears! I didn’t realize how loud and powerful these machines could be! I did not do anything to the shocks except refill the rear one because there was no fluid in it but it but it seems to be holding up now. So long story short it does have a very small leak in the bottom end but other than that it is a really fun machine to ride. Again if I wasn’t going to college I would definitely keep the bike but education is important. Maybe one day I’ll come across it for sale again and buy it but for now I don’t have the money or the time for it.
