Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1983 Honda ATC 70 Christmas Special. These ATC 70's are rare and getting hard to find. "According to the internet, this could possibly be one of the rarest Honda's ever made. So rare that Honda barely even acknowledges it's existence. Just before Christmas of '82, Honda built the '83 ATC 70 in blue for a holiday give- away. Rumor has it that each dealer would get one blue ATC 70 to give away in some kind of raffle. They were not for sale. This would make total production of about 1600-1800. The blue ATC 70 is not shown on the '83 sales brochure, and there is no mention of it in the ID book. The only documentation of it's existence is a small ad that Honda sent in the mail to anyone who had bought a new bike within a few years before the give-away." I found this one above a garage. It does run and the transmission seemed to work good. its a four speed, down shift. The motor does smoke and the valves do rattle a bit. It probably needs a top-end rebuild or maybe one of the piston rings is stuck. Not a big deal if you know how to work on these simple engines. The front fender has been repaired with something; looks like JB weld. The gas tank has been treated inside with red gas tank liner, and does hold gas. The outside of the tank has dents on both sides, normal scratches, and wear spots on the stickers. The rear fenders have screws, tin, and looks like putty underneath it; someone did a bad job trying to repair them. This Honda 70 is in below-average condition, but it's complete. No Chinese parts that I can see. It starts and rides, with a little bit of work, it could be a good little machine. Since it needs minor engine work, I am throwing in another 1983 non-running engine; between the two engines, you should be able to make one good one. I was gonna do a 100% full restoration, but don't have the time. Please look close at all of the pictures. This is not a clone Christmas Special; this is the real deal. There could be other little issues with it, I really don't know. I didn't go through it. Looks all original to me. Like I said before, I found it above a garage in Pennsylvania. It would be a perfect project for someone. E-mail me with any questions. Item must be paid within 7 days of auction ending. I will accept cash, Paypal, money order, or personal check. (ATC will not leave garage until all money has cleared my bank) local pick up. If you want me to ship it to you, the buyer takes care of ALL shipping cost and ALL shipping information. I did find a large, strong, cardboard box mounted on a pallet with lid. The ATC 70 will fit inside, if I take the front wheel off. There should also be room in the box for the spare engine. I figured the total weight is about 225 pounds. I can also ship from work since there are already loading docks there. The box should only be lifted with a fork lift or pallet jack. If this helps you out, then fine; if not, you figure out how to ship it. Good luck and Happy bidding.
