Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a very solid 1968 Mercedes 250SL. This is a great looking, running driving car. The car is currently White with Gray Interior, Blue Soft Top and White Hard Top. It was originally a White car with Black Hard Top, Black Fabric Soft Top, and Caviar Interior. It has the Fuel injected 6-cylinder engine with an automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. The car is documented with the data card from Mercedes USA. It shows the car left the factory with the following options: Body Style: 250SL Paint Code: 717 (Papyrus White Body) 040 (Black Hard Top) Soft Top: 720 (Black Fabric Folding Soft Top) Interior: 116 (Caviar seats with Black Carpet) Headlights: Bosch Tires: Phoenix Dealer Country Code: 719 St. Pierre et Miquelon (America) Option codes: 401 Single Seats (bucket seats) 416 Hard Top Mounted 426 Floor Shifted Automatic Transmission, and Power Steering 431 Seat Belts 462 Rear Fog light Under Bumper 491 U.S. Version 503 Left Outside Mirror 519 Becker Radio Grand Prix U.S.A. 591 Tinted Windshield - Banded 600 Garnish Molding on Hard Top 641 2 Piece Hub Caps – White Wall Tires 663 50 Litre Tank 720 Black Fabric Folding Soft Top 835 Coco Mats VIN Decodes: 11304312003680 113043 - 250SL 1- Left Hand Drive 2- Automatic Transmission 003680- Sequential Number The car has been repainted several years ago and is starting to show its age. The interior is in good condition with no rips or tears in the seats. The carpet could use replaced. The Blue convertible soft top is in good condition and looks nice. The hood, tonneau cover, and hard top are all matching numbers. The car is very, very solid but does have very small amount of rust in the front floor pans. The motor is a non-matching numbers 280 engine. The previous owner had owned the car for several years. It had been sitting for a few years when I purchased the car. The car runs and drives great, but could use tires. The transmission was replaced in 2003 with a new Mercedes Transmission at a cost of $2900. I have the receipt from Benz Haus, Inc. It was replaced at 97,825 miles (it only has been driven 4000 miles since replaced). All the gauges appear to work. This is a great looking car that with a little work could be a great driving car as is or a great restoration. I have a clear title and I have the copy of the Data Card that came from Mercedes USA I am selling this car with NO RESERVE so please look at the pictures and feel free to email or call 865-621-4012 with any questions. Thanks and good luck bidding.
