Giorgio Giugiardo, one of the world's leading industrial designers, styled this sleek and streamlined coupe, which was executed in metal by Bertone. So well received was the Montreal coupe that a production model would follow in 1970 through 1977. Ideal form, function and performance were perfected with this model, which has now stirred an explosion of appreciation in recent years for this particular Alfa Romeo. Due to their limited production numbers, pedigree, and sporty looks, Montreals have become a scarcity in the current market. The example offered here appears to be quite an original survivor. Very few Montreals actually made it to the USA. Those that did, like this one, are being recognized as being one of the best-kept secrets in the collector sports car world. Finished in period applied gold paint, fitted with its original black Texalfa fabrics and Campagnolo Elektron alloy wheels, the Alfa shows just over 65,000kms or about 40,000miles from new. The coupe was discovered amongst an eclectic Italian sports car collection, presumably unused for the last several years. A door tag indicates the car was manufactured in January of 1974 and imported by a Mr. William Wright Jr. An extensive file including ALL original importation documentation from the summer of 1982 was recently discovered. This particular car is said to have been sold new to Belgium and brought to Los Angeles in the early 1980s, where it resided in Santa Ana throughout the 1980's under the same ownership, receiving a complete motor rebuild and several servicings. It was then sold to its most recent caretaker in 1991. Several early service invoices also accompany the sale. After years of static storage this Montreal is now being offered for sale for the first time in decades and will make for a great Spring project. As-is this Montreal makes an ideal candidate for a mechanical preservation restoration or excellent base to take to next level. Offered locally for: $69,900.00 SELLING with NO RESERVE!!
