Vehicle Detail

Hey Bug Fanatics! I have here a GREAT little classic 1970 Beetle. I have purchased this car from a friend that needed money for some extensive Dental work. He has driven this car daily for the 3 years I have known him. The car is in real good shape considering it has never had any major work done as far as restoration. Here is what I know. The engine has been out and been repaired about a year ago. It was simply to get it going again but not what I would call a rebuild. It runs GOOD. Muffler is a little loud for my liking, but it may just be worn out. It has never been in a wreck or had any body work (see pictures for the dent on right rear fender. Clutch and transmission are strong. Engine has a minor oil leak, but not enough to be alarmed about. Lucas oil treatment may resolve that. Most electronics work. Horn and a light or two not working. Car is very clear of rust except for surface rust around the door jams and where paint has been missing. Floor pans have been replaced and are solid. Brakes work, but are a little weak for my liking. Tires have lots of life left and are not dry rotting. Basically this car needs a good paint job and new windshield to be a nice looking car. I think this is a good base for a really nice restoration. I took some polish and it shines up really nice. If I spend a day detailing this car, it would bring another $500, but I don't have the time or will power. Headliner and interior are good. Seats were new 3 years ago. No tears in the headliner, and will look new with some good cleaner. Carpet is in good shape, just needs a good cleaning and to be re-glued behind the floor pedals. I have been very deliberate in describing this car as accurately as I can. I recently purchased a car on Ebay and despite meeting face to face to face and driving the car, there were a lot of hidden problems and he denied having knowledge of. I know how it feels to be burned and would not do it to anyone else. My feedback is 100% and I am proud of it. I would not be afraid to drive this car several hundred miles to get to it's new home if I were buying it myself, but because of the age and uncertainty of possible problems, I would tow it any further. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 205.901.2909. Thanks!
