Vehicle Detail
The reserve will not be revealed and is much less than the “Buy it now” price but I am giving the people who most desire to own this a chance to buy the car without gambling on the outcome of the final price. I will not accept any trades, of any kind. For auction is this very solid survivor 5w coupe with a remarkable history, this car was owned by the same owner for over 50 years from 1948 where it was his first car, it has criss-crossed the continent twice with this owner who was a submarine skipper in the Navy, I have a copy of a newspaper interview he did with a Seattle Times newspaper reporter from Aug of 2000 and it includes photos of the car and the owner and the car being put aboard a Navy cargo ship on one of the voyages. This has a clear Washington 32 title with the Vin noting it is a Model 18 and I have a pic of the frame stamp that shows this also. It is believed the interior upholstery and exterior paint were done in the 60’s and it shows with great patina, the roof and cowl vent were filled but could be restored to original because the channels are still intact, a few years ago the car was brought to a (Not to be named) local Hot Rod shop where they replaced the fuel tank (not hooked up yet) and replaced the rear panel, they took the juice brakes apart to replace the wheel cyls and added a new dropped axle to the front (steering not hooked up) they added the painted 15” wheels and WW tires and painted the grille insert. So there is still work needed to drive the car. They also removed the front wood floor section and much of the wiring to the car which I have some of it. It has what I believe is the original late 21 stud motor and trans with Banjo rear. The magneto and wires have been replaced and the generator looks rebuilt, I was told the engine ran as little as 2 years ago with jumper wires and a fuel can so I planned on using the drivetrain as is which I believe is an option. I bought the car with 2 other cars and this is more of a project than I had in mind so it will be passed on to someone with the same passion and more time on their hands. Rust is minimal, there is a small spot in the rt front cowl at the bottom and a little around the right rear body mount in the floor pan which has had a small patch but I have not seen any other rust, the rod shop trimmed the floor for the fuel line attachment so this will need a small patch to cover, the glass is in good shape aside from a few bubbles at the edges, the windshield rolls out and the side glass and rear window all operate, the doors latch good but the trunk needs the striker put on the new rear panel, I have a new one. All locks were oiled and operate good including the steering column lock. All exterior panels including the grille shell, hood, doors and fenders are Henry Ford steel except the panel under the trunk which I believe is an aftermarket replacement, the firewall is uncut oem. The window garnish mldgs are there and are were chromed, it comes with a patina’d unmounted Hollywood license light. It has a cool swing away dash mounted ash tray and an under dash heater, the dome light is not original but looks cool. Please email me questions and while I am not an expert I would do my best to answer the questions. Any bidders with Feedback less than 25 please message me prior to bidding or risk your bid being deleted, I will sell outside the United States but will not release the vehicle until my bank tells me the funds are secure and cannot be recalled from an international wire transfer. A Paypal payment of $2000 required 24 hours from auction end. Final payment must be paid and cleared prior to the vehicle leaving my possession, please note my Feedback, I am a straight shooter so I respect honest people.
