Vehicle Detail

Welcome to this listing for my black 1984 Corvette with custom graphics, which I like to refer to as The Black Knight. I am the second owner of this car and have had it for many years. This car is fun to drive and a real head-turner. It features Greenwood Ground Effects as well as a handling package that makes cornering a thrill. The stiff suspension makes it feel like you are sitting right on the road. A Hypertech Street Runner Power Chip added to what was already a powerful engine helps satisfy the need for speed! This car is fast, and you will love its growl. Speed and beauty have always been my “thing” with cars, and this car has both in spades! Please be aware that I am a regular person, not an auto mechanic. I will tell you what you need to know in order to make a decision about the car in the sections below. I have done my best to give an honest representation of the car, but again, I’m no car expert. Please read the entire listing if you want to bid on the car. I would appreciate the courtesy of only serious buyers participating in this auction. The final auction price does not include delivery of the car. You must pick up the car or make third-party arrangements (and pay third-party fees) yourself. Note that I will only accept cash or a certified/bank check as payment. If you are paying by check, I will need to call and verify it with your bank. Things That Are Great About This Car 1. The leather seats and carpets are in excellent condition. There is minor creasing in the leather seats from normal use. 2. The car has beautiful, shiny black paint, though there is some clouding on the targa top. There are a few small chips and areas of spider webbing, but overall the paint is gorgeous. 3. The car has just been professionally detailed inside and out, including the seats, which were removed and cleaned (as well as the underlying carpets), and the seat tracks were lubed for smooth operation. Note that the car has manual seats. 4. Based on what I was able to find online, I believe this car has a Greenwood Design Aerosport 8 Piece Ground Effects w/Wing (Rear Spoiler) kit. It looks so much cooler than a normal “undressed” Corvette! 5. Beautiful graphics that look like neon lights were professionally painted on the car. On the back are painted the words, "Listen to the Heartbeat". The front plate has the word "Corvette" painted in blue. 6. A Hypertech Street Runner Power Chip (11401) was installed. I have the original chip for you (but why would you ever change it back?). 7. The headliner and visor fabric was recently replaced. 8. A handling package was installed by the original owner, but I cannot give any specifics except to say the car handles like a performance car should. The cornering is outstanding. 9. The digital dash was recently serviced, and it works perfectly. 10. This car has a fantastic, growly sound. 11. The car has a new battery. 12. Epsilon wheels really give it a dressed-up/cool look. 13. This car runs well. Please see my notes below discussing what needs to be fixed. 14. The dash is intact (no cracks whatsoever). 15. The car has always been garage kept. 16. Only 76,542 original miles are on this car. 17. The car has always driven with premium-grade gasoline (as long as I've owned it). 18. The original owner gave me the Car and Track magazine that featured this car. I will now pass it on to you (see photo). Things That Are Not Great About This Car 1. The primary issue with this car is that it did have some mouse activity during storage. In order to remedy this, I had the car professionally detailed. All the carpets were lifted and cleaned (over and under) insofar as possible without actually removing them from the car. Also, the kick panels under the dash were removed and vacuumed out. Unfortunately there is a still an odor in the car. The detailer stated that to remove the odor all carpets would need to be totally removed from the car and soaked. The pads underneath the carpets will need replacement. If you live in Northern Illinois, I know the guy that can make this happen. If not, you just need to find the best car detailer in your area that has experience with this type of problem. 2. The tires are old and will need replacement. 3. The mechanic shop stated that the radiator has some minor leaking, but they really couldn’t characterize it more than that. They were concerned that stop-leak was added to the radiator at some point in time and that bits of it could flake/break off and cause more serious leaking. 4. Some lights are out, but the main headlight and tail light bulbs all work. 5. Wiper and wash function are sporadic. The mechanic shop stated that a new switch was needed. 6. Only the one or two front stereo speakers on the passenger side are working. This car has an old Alpine stereo/tape deck, so I did not worry about this assuming you would be upgrading the stereo anyway. 7. The passenger-side headlight consistently needs a soft push to go down. As a result, there is a small crack in the headlight housing where I pushed it too hard when I first had the car (see photo). 8. The shifter bag is deteriorating (see photo). 9. The metal ashtray cover is “breaking down” (per the detailer) and shows some small white spots (see photo). The underlying ashtray is rusty, but the detailer painted it black so it’s not so apparent. 10. The passenger-side visor needs repair (it will fall off). The mechanic shop stated that nothing was broken, but the attachment is just old and needs replacement. 11. The little red gear selector/indicator is broken off. The pieces are inside the cover. 12. I cannot guarantee A/C operation as I prefer driving with the windows down. The car has not been charged with Freon in a good long time. Heater operation tested out fine (per the mechanic shop). 13. The gaskets around the doors and rear hatch are old and need replacement for a water-tight seal. 14. The door module was removed on driver’s side a while ago, because the overhead lights were staying on, so it was impossible to charge the car. As a result, the overhead lights will not come on. I have the module that was removed. Overall, I have to tell you that this car is a real joy and a thrill to drive. I have literally dreamed about driving this car at night. It has a very unique and attractive look compared to a stock Corvette. If you like attention, you will definitely get it as the owner of this car! If you need more pics or have questions, just ask. I have done all that I can do to make the car nice for the next owner. Will it be you?
