This is the Porsche-built 500e, rumored to be built in area of Zuffenhausen facility where Porsche 959 cars were previously built, there are production pictures of 500e cars right alongside Porsche 964 cars. Trans needs replacement, has fluid but slips uncomfortably into 2nd gear, would make anyone nervous. I've driven it that way for couple months while crossing my fingers the entire time, and as recently as Sunday Oct 25th, 2015 I used this car to shuttle 4 people to and from the talladega nascar race roughly 2 hours away from my house. Front brakes and new coolant tank as recently as last week, it has been my daily driver for 5 years since I had it shipped from los angeles to birmingham. The car had a bunch of engine work including timing updates and wiring harness update a few years back, It now needs new owner and tlc. The entire roof and rear trunk lid are faded paint as most notable cosmetic imperfections, the worst part should be noticeable in the pics. The inside interior "wood" trim is not pretty, both the front and rear storage spaces in between seats and the associated trim is broken, no sliding "wood" enlosures remaining, those materials didn't stand the test of time and my children. The unique old school car phone option is there between driver and front passenger, the phone cord wire covering is disintegrated although the the phone will turn on if for some reason that is of interest. The interior and trunk have seen 5 years of groceries and my kids, the expected wear and tear, not a museum piece. Also, door locks stopped locking with key recently, the key will easily unlock the car but won't lock it, I get around that by manually pushing down on door locks, and the all doors and trunk will lock at once when that is done. This car is intended for someone that can provide it with a 2nd chance, or perhaps for the enthusiast brave enough to fab a manual 5speed into it, or build a racing car with 4 recaro bucket seats from it, there are lots of possibilities, this car deserves another 200K miles! I will forever miss the driving experience I enjoyed from this car, when you live with a 500e you realize "why" they were originally sold at $80K back in early 90's, there is a high-level of engineering, safety, and speed.
