Vehicle Detail
Delisted and reserve lowered! Well, it is time for someone else to be the caretaker and keep this beauty on the road. I believe I am the third or fourth owner. I have no history of the car prior to picking it up in 2011 from a small dealer who got it at an auction. All I know is it has been TONS of fun! The FactsBody in very good condition, with 4 rust spots on the passenger side (see pictures) and three of those are from previous repairs someone did. Other small rust areas it little nooks by windows. Rockers and floors solid. It looks like floors were redone by someone at some time.Interior is complete but worn. Tunnel carpet fade (A $6 re-dye spray can solve). Driver's seat bottom has seam split, just needs to be resewn. All (yes, all) electrics work. Wiring system replaced with modern fuses by specialty shop familiar with Lucas. Radio antenna, wires and speakers in car, but car did not have radio when I got it so I installed the MG blanking plate.Mechanically strong, sport exhaust, runs 66 MPH at 4000 RPM keeping up with traffic,no overheating issues.Transmission shifts fine for age, replace transmission fluid with correct Red Line MT-90 oilCharcoal canister might be becoming clogged, but it passed emissions in PA before I tagged it as antique. Oil - burns some oil (I believe from cylinder #2) ,an occasional drip from dipstick area and somewhere else but not bleeding like a stuck pig like most of these cars do, nor my previous 3 MGs and Triumphs.New master brake cylinder, clutch cylinder, clutch slave cylinder and line, wiper motor, drive shaft UV joint, new driver's side leaf spring and shock absorber, replaced many rubber parts and have more in British Victoria packages still, 2 year old Pacesetter exhaust, new Tourneau cover, brand new BL jack. It totally and completely passed PA State Inspection and Emissions in Sept 2012. Because it is now registered and tagged as an Antique, it is exempt. By transferring the title, you can either keep it with the Antique tag or do a normal or classic tag, which will require a re-inspection depending on your State. Wear and TearTop with clear windows but have two small splits at rear window seamSome rivets missing, but if I can I will install or include.Spare tire is spare, saved after I had the kingpins and front bushings redone.Tires have tread left, but right front has some dry rot cracks appearing. ExtrasChilton and Haynes manuals, two more quarts of MT-90, dashpot oil, shock absorber fluid, extra parts new and used such as window cranks, shock absorber, window trim, roof snaps, receipts of all work done. See picture of drawer full. The WhyBecause I now need four seats to do family back road touring, a 16 year old son who wants it as his first car (no.), and a toddler who's car seat does not go well with a British Roadster. DisclaimersMileage will increase, as I still drive it once a week. This is a used vehicle that I tried to explain as best and as honestly as possible. There is no actual or implied warranties or guarantees. You are responsible for sales tax, which is 6% in PA. Not me.
