What is offered here is a Rare Original 1998 Saleen XP8 AWD Ford Explorer #98-022 Medium Wedgewood Blue Metallic Colored with Silver Graphics, Ford Gray Leather Interior, All Wheel Drive, Rear Hide-a-way Child Seat Option, Upgraded Ford Factory Car Stereo System with Ford Factory Subwoofer Option equipped with 99-04 Chrome Saleen Replica Wheels and Real Chrome Saleen Center Caps and Pirelli Scorpion 255 55 18 Tires.For those of you who don't know Saleen Explorers, the XP8 signifies that it is powered by the V8 302 engine and is an AWD (All Wheel Drive) Vehicle which works well in all weather conditions. These Saleen XP Vehicles sport a Unique deep exhaust tone since they are equipped with a Unique Borla Exhaust system made for Saleen back then, from the muffler back with a Machine gun look tail pipe, the same appearance styling and function as Saleen Performance equipped on the 1994-1998 Saleen Mustang Vehicles!This Unique and Specific Saleen XP8 Explorer was Originally used on the cover of the 1st Saleen XP Brochure Produced in the past and was used to promote the up and coming Saleen XP's that were to be offered for the first time in Saleen's history, a New Performance Utility Vehicle added to the line of the already famous Saleen Mustangs that ruled the race tracks and won Saleen Multiple SCCA Manufacturers Championships at that time back in 1998.This Limited Production Run Sports Utility Vehicle made by the Famous Automotive Company Saleen Performance was first offered in 1998 through 2001 and according to the Saleen Registry 121 were produced from the combined years, not very many and less then that number exist in today's market, as a bunch of them have been totaled and or parted out because Saleen Explorer Parts are impossible to find since not produced and or offered since they debuted long ago and the Saleen XP Explorer parts are what Saleen Collectors refer to Unobtanium. This XP8 is listed in the Saleen Registry and has a letter of Authenticity from Saleen showing that it is One of two produced with this color and graphic colors and options back in 1998.Although Saleen claims to not have any record documentation of this specific car being on the cover of the first Saleen Explorer Brochure even with us showing them the Original Brochure they made long ago that shows this car and it's #22 Bumper number, they also have no record of it coming with the Supercharger Option, The Powerdyne Supercharger Installed from the factory which I was told by a few Ex-Saleen Employees who worked for Saleen back in 1998 that this specific car was used a little bit as a Demo/Press car and was taken to a few shows with two other XP's used/displayed and at that time long ago had the supercharger installed. One of the Ex-Saleen Employees even remembered being a passenger in this ride to go to a show back in 1998 to promote Saleen Explorers Offered for sale at that time, then later shipped to a dealer to offer for sale!Regardless of all this here say info, some where early in this vehicles time line the of the different owners who owned it, the Powerdyne BD10 Head Unit was removed, but all the Original brackets remain in place, Supercharger Specific Cold Air Intake is still in use, FMU Fuel Delivery System is still equipped, pulleys etc...are all equipped on this vehicle. Powerdyne BD10 Head Units are often offered for sale on the internet and Ebay (The Other Hard to find specific to this Explorer car and equipped 302 engine Supercharger parts, this car already has on it and are impossible to find). Their is no Supercharger Head Unit that is included in the sale of this car, so that is something if you would ever want this car supercharged again, you would want to find.I purchased this XP8 a few years back because of it being on the cover of the 1st Saleen XP brochure and also because it was #22 Saleen car being my favorite number and sports number in college and because it had potential to have the Supercharger head unit back on someday with very little effort due to all the SC stuff still being on the car and had hopes of owning One XP from each year produced except for the One produced in 2001 year. I had big plans of doing a bunch of things with this vehicle including a repaint, a built engine coupled with completing what is needed for having her supercharged again (Head Unit, Belt and a Tune Required), but unfortunately life and health issues forces me to give her and some things up at this time. In the 3 years of me owning this Rare XP, their has been a ton of things I have had to fix, taking me away from the dreams of doing stuff to this vehicle and have well over $5000 in receipts on misc needed repairs and fixes on this ride that started immediately after day one of purchasing it.This Rare Saleen XP8 Explorer for me has been what I call a Blue Mule and has been used for picking up and hauling parts and has been a work horse of a ride. It's not a perfect car by any means, remember it's 17 years old, needs a few things and a repaint (which it needed when I got it 3 years ago) and from what I know of it's Vehicle history, it has always lived outside in the elements on the West Coast only in states: New Mexico, Nevada and currently registered and insured till Feb 2016 in the State of California and has always had a CLEAR TITLE.This Rare Saleen Explorer XP8 has all it's original parts minus it's original Wheels and it did not originally come from Saleen Equipped with the Saleen Aluminum XP Pedals, Simulated Carbon Fiber Interior Trim pieces and Saleen COCO Floormats. It Never had those parts equipped and we have none to offer with this car!This XP still has the Rare Real Carbon Fiber Exterior Mirrors with paddle lights equipped, but they need to be refreshed again with a clear coat of paint.This Saleen XP does currently run, but does need a few fixes if you were to have plans of driving it a bunch of miles daily. This Vehicles current Mileage may change a little as it is driven a few times a week locally.I could continue to write and go on about this Saleen vehicle all day here, but wiil spare those an even more huge novel here and will discuss further details and any information/questions any potential buyers may have and would encourage you if interested in this ride to ask before bidding here.This Saleen Vehicle is being Auctioned off in "AS IS CONDITION" running with a Clear California Title and will sell no matter what with this No Reserve Auction format on E-bay. This Vehicle is located in California and would encourage any potential buyers to view it in person, but no joy rides! I Reserve the Right to end this auction for this Saleen XP early since it is also being offered locally for sale and has to be sold off ASAP since I no longer have the space to store it.Again, It is a 17 Year Old Used Saleen Vehicle auctioned off in "AS IS CONDITION" that does need a new paint job (Clear Coat on the Hood and roof line is coming off as seen in posted pictures) and needs some repairs, but again it is a Real and Complete Saleen Explorer that Drives, has a straight body, a Clear Title and has potential with most of the Original Supercharger parts in place. This car will get looks and is always asked about even in it's current needing paint state. Here is a list of the repairs this car has had in the 3 years of me owning it:Passenger side Exhaust manifold replaced 3 times (Wrong one was originally equipped prior to me owning the car and mechanics kept replacing out the wrong equipped one with the wrong part till the 3rd time a mechanic challenged the part not being the right one for the car!) Now the cars engine sounds good with no Exhaust leaks and still has the rare Original Saleen Explorer Borla Exhaust equipped. New EGR tube, New Radiator, New Water Pump, New Alternator, New Battery, New Mass Air Meter, New Door Window regulators (All 4 Windows), New Ford Windshield, New Rear hatch Door Assembly, New Hood Struts, New Rear hatch struts, New Rear Window struts, New Belt, New Head Lights and Head Light Assemblies, Dealer Installed alarm was removed off the car, front and rear brakes done routinely (Front Rotors are upgraded drilled type), Full Synthetic Oil Changes performed every 3500 to 4000 miles, Fuel filters replaced routinely, I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff!Obviously I have more pictures of this car, please feel free to ask questions. Prior to me owning it, the car has had a few accidents in it's history, nothing major, I don't have any details of those times and what happened, I know the drivers side door was replaced at one time, as it's missing the VIN number decal from that location, but still has it on the dash. The Previous Owner I acquired it from didn't know all those details either since they didn't happen while he had it. This car has had a hand full of owners in it's history. This car has always had a Clear Title and yes needs a few things, but has potential especially offered at a starting bid of $200 with No Reserve!
