Vehicle Detail
This will be a pretty long description but I like to be accurate. I don't like surprises when I buy something and I don't think anyone else does either. I've had this bike almost eight years now. The bike was manufactured in September of 1975 so it is 40 years old this month. It had 7900 miles on it when I got it and I believe the miles were correct. The bike now has 33000 miles on it. It has always been super reliable. It still has the original points and condensers, that's how reliable it is. I have a new spare set of points and condensers that will be included. It runs good and I have used it for commuting since I got it, and still do commute on it sometimes so miles may go up, but if you gas on it hard through the gears it will blow some blue smoke. It never smokes during normal riding, only when ridden very hard. It has never fouled a spark plug and plugs show no sign of burning oil. I do have to add a small amount of oil between 1500 mile oil and filter changes. Top end has some oil seepage here and there. Cylinder number 1 intake valve clearance increases when engine warms up so I set it on the tight side when the engine is cold. It has done this since I got the bike. I've always changed the oil and filter every 1500 miles with Rotella 15W40. Clutch and transmission work good. This bike has some nice accessories, some of which are pretty rare. Since I got the bike I have added the following: All Balls tapered steering head bearings with seals, OEM shifter shaft seal and countershaft sprocket seal, OEM clutch cable, Magura style clutch lever, Viton valve stem seals, ignition switch, Dyna 5 ohm coils, Accel plug wires, relay modification for full battery voltage to ignition coils, 1979 CB650 cam and 1979 CB650 gauges, speedometer is 130 mph speedo, mileage on 650 speedo was very close to original speedo when I swapped them so as far as I know 33000 miles is correct, or at least very close. 650 gauges were disassembled and warped plastic needles were replaced with metal needles, very nice Buco luggage rack, Drag Specialties chrome chain guard, Slipstreamer S-05 Turbo windshield with custom stainless tubing mounts instead of headlight mounting bolt flat bar that the windshield comes with, Kawasaki KLR650 caliper with HH pads, KLR650 master cylinder with braided brake line, original brake disc has been drilled to match the swept area of the new brake pads, fork leg has been modified for the new caliper and will no longer accept original caliper, and I do not have original brake parts, but when you experience the two finger power of this brake you'll forget about the barely adequate original brake. Pod air filters have been added (outer filters have been shortened to clear frame rails) carbs were rejetted, carb bowl screws have been changed to 8-32 stainless allen screws, I use only one throttle cable but I have the other one if you want to put it back on, RK 530H heavy duty drive chain, Yamaha R1 horn, battery is only 6 months old. Turn signal mounts have been shortened for a cleaner look. Original exhaust pipes are blued and have a little surface rust on inside of head pipes but mufflers have absolutely no dents or rust holes and chrome still looks very nice. Spray can paint job, metallic vintage copper with clear coat, is about 6 years old and is lifting a little near gas cap, it is certainly not show quality but is a decent daily rider paint job. Gas tank has no bondo and is very clean inside. Chrome trim is missing from gas tank. Right side cover has had a crack repaired on the inside with epoxy, you can't tell from the outside. All side cover mounting tabs are intact and have never been broken. 550Four emblems are very nice but have one broken mounting pin, they are attached to side covers with silicone. Seat had a small split on heat pressed seam on right side, I put liquid vinyl repair on it and I also put it on left side to prevent splitting, it has been like this for 7 years now. Chrome trim on seat was peeling off so I sanded it off and painted it black. Rear rim has some tire changing marks on it. Both rims have a little rust spotting. Has Shinko 712 tires, front is good, rear will need to be replaced soon. Fork gaiters are perfect. Aluminum could use polishing. Fenders have a couple of minor dings and have decent chrome. All electrics including lights, switches and charging and starting systems work perfectly. Annoying turn signal beeper works but is unplugged. I have the owners manual and incomplete tool kit (I know the spark plug socket is missing, not sure what else may be missing) Parts that will be included are: complete original air box with all mounting hardware, needs new rubber boots and air filter, original chain guard, original camshaft, original tachometer and speedometer, original horn, original spark plug boots, main jet assortment including original 100 main jets, set of new aftermarket points and condensers. This bike always gets a lot of attention and if you are looking at this ad you will recognize the potential that it has. Do an easy restoration, cafe it, or use it just like it is. You are welcome to come and check it out if you are in the Knoxville,TN area. Clear title in my name. No warranty expressed or implied. I do not need a deposit but I would like payment in cash. Buyer to arrange shipping if needed.
