If you are looking for a late model sport touring bike, but you don't want to break the family budget - - - the Honda CTX700/D may be just the bike for you. This great bike gets 65 mpg now matter how you ride it. Around town, short trips, cruising at 75 on the interstate, It just doesn't seem to make much difference -- 65 MPG, honest. And this is using the recommended 87 octane stuff. I just road the entire 470 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and found that even on mountain roads, the bike "knows" just when to upshift and downshift. So you can use the paddle shifter (manual), if you want, but after a few miles you'll probably set it for auto shift and just enjoy the ride. BTW, this is not a belt and pulley automatic like a scooter, but a real, 6-speed, double clutch mechanical transmission. This model comes equipped with an ABS too. As you may know, the MSRP on this model is about $8800, but that's for the usual "bare" bike. Since I purchased it new, I have added about $3000 worth of quality accessories to make this machine a true sport tourer, with the emphasis on comfort and safety.
