Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 'Real' example of a Numbers Matching, Fuel Injected, Chamonix 1974 BMW 2002Tii. The BMW 2002Tii was only imported between 1972-74 and in a number around 7500. There are considerably less than that many left. As a result this is an appreciating Classic and will ONLY continue to go up in value. I have owned 'Gretchen' for over 8 and a half years and she is not a 'Trailer Queen', she is a rare example of a Vintage Car that is driven on a regular to semi-regular basis. Currently Insured by Hagerty for $30,000. She is not a 'show car' but, I regularly take her to BMW events and is a definite 'Looker' and get compliments every time I drive her (I do love that!). I do take extremely good care of her. Shock Mounts are in perfect condition and Driver's Side Floor Pan was replaced with New Floor Pan (Very FIRST Thing I did to her). So no need to worry about those common issues.99% of the maintenance has been done at JF Pro BMW in Van Nuys, CA and 2002 Motor Werks in Ontario, CA. Paint and was done by Drip Stop Paint & Body in Rialto, CA. Mini/Partial-Restoration (NOT every Nut and Bolt or Part was replaced but still quite a lot was done...all in all about $12-14K Parts & Labor) was split between JF PRO BMW (Mechanicals) and Drip Stop Paint & Body (Body & Non-Mechanicals). I recently (within 3000 miles) had the following done:Brakes, Points (Cap & Rotor Included), Transmission (Shaft End Seal as well as Shift Linkage, Short Shifter, Seals and a few other Brackets and such that needed repair), Alignment and New Tires all at a cost of over $1500. Within the last 12,000 miles.:Clutch, 5 Speed Transmission Replaced, Balanced & Blueprinted Distributor, New Exhaust Resonator, Speedometer Cable, Valve Adjustment (with Valve Cover Gasket), Tune-up (including Plugs), K-Fish Pump Rebuild and Driveshaft Rebalance. Since I have owned her this is the list off the top of my head:Nardi Steering Wheel, Steel Braided Brake Lines, Polyurethane Bushings (Ireland Engineering), Bilstein Shocks and H&R Springs, Front Shock Tower Mounts, Master and Slave Cylinders, Upgraded 65 Amp Alternator, 3-Series Starter Motor, Heater Core Refurbished with Blower Motor, Bottle Cap Rims Refurbished, New 3 Series Radiator, Electric Fuel Pump, 5-speed Transmission from 3 Series, New Clutch, Front and Rear Glass, Door Seals and Window Seal (including Wings and Quarters), Clock Refurbish, New Sun Visors, Parker Performance VDO Gauges (Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature and Volts), Complete Under Engine and Door Decal Set (La Jolla Independent), Modified Door Stops Installed, Front Seats Re-stuff and Rear Seat Repair and Re-stuff, New Front Seat Belts, Pre-'74 Chrome Bumper with Plate Lights, New Tail Light Lenses, New Fuel Filler Elbow, Hella Driving Lamps (wired with OEM Fog Lamp Switch), Kamei Front Air Dam (Pierre Replica), European Front Blinkers, Side Markers and Rubber Side Pieces Removed, Blaupunkt Seattle MP74 Radio with 4 MB Quart Speakers (not in the doors) and an Alpine Amplifier (in the Trunk...professionally done), Complete New Antenna, All rust eradicated and car professionally repainted. There may be a few more things as I know the list is quite extensive. She is not perfect, she's is almost 42 years old (build date Dec 1973) but in my opinion she is close and she is very reliable, I wouldn't hesitate to drive her anywhere. The list of things that have been replaced on Gretchen are well documented and I have the majority of the maintenance records dating back to the 80's. She was even written up as 1 of the top 5 in Eurotuner for the 2013 SoCal Vintage Event http://www.eurotuner.com/eventcoverage/1310_top_5_bmw_2002s_of_socal_vintage_meet_2013/ Included will be a few bits and pieces as well as a Custom Car Cover and Laminated Electrical Wiring Diagram. I also have the RARE Blue Binder BMW Maintenance Manuals and these can also be negotiated into the deal. I think it's time for a new project but I am not in a hurry to sell her. I may consider a trade plus cash for the right car (Alfa Romeo, Classic Mini (or 2003-2008 Version), Classic Fiat...etc.) Price is NEGOTIABLE and Offers will be considered. Car is for sale locally and will be withdrawn if sold. Sold AS IS with NO Warranty given, written or implied.$500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of sale and the remainder is required within the remaining 6 days via Cash, Wire Transfer or Cashier's Check (from a well known reputable bank only). Buyer is responsible for shipment and all fees related to shipment. Seller is not responsible for any omissions or errors in listing. I have tried to describe her as well as possible and hope she finds a great home. Thank you. If you have any questions or want to make an offer please contact me.
