Vehicle Detail
Rare 1941GMC ½ ton short bed 1941 GMC ½ ton short bed truck for sale: Up for bid is a very solid and very rare 1941 GMC. The “Art Deco” (1941-1947) GM trucks are very rare, due to WWII, they were only produced in 1941 very few 1942’s and then 1946 and ½ a year in 1947, and there were less than ½ as many GMC’s made as there were Chevrolet’s. ½ ton short bed GMC’s are the rarest of those as most GMC’s were ¾ ton or bigger. This truck is very solid and straight, it has the original frame, steering and front axle with drum brakes, it has a 1968 Chevrolet 12 bolt open drive-line rear axle with 6 lug drum brakes and 3.73:1 gear ratio, a 1960's Chevrolet 283 2bbl V-8 with 1980’s 305 heads, a turbo 350 auto with a lock-up converter, a aluminum radiator, and new wiring. The truck has bucket seats, and a floor shift. The emergency brake works as do all the lights. The truck has 235/70/15 Coker wide white wall radial tires on stock GM 6 lug wheels. I just installed a rebuilt instrument cluster, the speedometer is a NOS unit, the oil pressure and temp gauge also work, but there is no provision for a sending unit in the 10 gallon speedway gas tank that is in the bed, (so no gas gauge). The paint looks like single stage, and the whole underside of the truck is painted chassis black. It has had a metal floor from a full size C-10 truck welded into the bed so it no longer has a wood bed floor, and the bed has been coated with a bed liner. I have towed my car trailer with this truck with no problems. It’s not a race car but cruises’ at 70MPH with no problems, the truck has less than 3,000 miles since it was completed. However, the mileage on the engine, trans, and rear-end are unknown. The engine has great oil pressure and does not smoke, the transmission does not slip, and the rear-end is quiet. I did not build the truck, I bought it already built and painted 1 year ago and then I put the wide white wall tires on it.The gentleman I bought the truck from bought it apart and built it from the frame up, he had to buy the windshield, windshield molding and header panel from a wrecking yard as those were missing when he got the truck and they have some pitting. The truck is a great driver quality truck and has won several trophies at small local shows, but it is not a 100 point show truck, it is a nice driver. The truck does not have AC or a heater, and the wipers do not work. The truck is sold as is, and what I have listed and what you see in pictures is all that goes with the truck. The GMC runs and drives very well, it does not drive like a new 2015, but it drives like a very nice 1941. I’m only selling it due to my recent divorce and bills, I really hate see it go as it is a very rare, fun, and great driver. Please check my other auctions often as I’m cleaning out my shop with 25+ years of accumulation. I will also be selling more cars and project cars. Due to the fact that this is a 74+ year old used truck and I cannot control how it will be used by the new owner there is no warranty or returns. This truck is sold as-is. What I have listed and what you see on the truck in the pictures is what I have and what you get. I will need a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 5 days of sale, and then balance must be paid in full within 10 days of end of auction. If not paid within 10 days this truck will be re-listed and deposit not returned. (I will work with you if there is a good excuse. I will not lower price though). I will not charge storage on this truck, if this truck is paid for it can be stored at my home for awhile (1 or 2 months, not a year) until shipping is arranged. I will not arrange shipping for the truck that is up to you the buyer but I will work with you and your shipper in any way I can. I highly recommend Reliable Carriers Inc, http://www.reliablecarriers.com/ I’ve used them several times, as have friends of mine, and we have always had great service.
