1986 Jeep CJ7 Renegade This 1986 Jeep CJ7 is a rare find. The Jeep is in good condition and drives the way a stock CJ should, smooth enjoyable and will take you back 25 years to the old days. Everywhere I have driven it I have received many compliments about it. It drives great in town, in traffic and even on mountain roads. This classic Renegade is a nice Jeep and would make the perfect summer cruiser, weekend warrior, daily driver or simply add it to your collection. Engine:This Jeep has a 6cylinder 258 4.2L motor. The carburetor could use some adjusting, cold starts take a few cranks and pumping of the gas. When started rpms jump up and down but once warmed up it purrs and runs great. The valve cover gasket needs replacement, it drips frequently. Once it is warmed up the Jeep runs great and sounds terrific. I replaced the muffler, tailpipe and emission lines 100 miles ago. Transmission:The transmission is a T176 4spd. The transmission does not whine, shifts smooth and the clutch feels very strong. Interior:Honey color interior - The front drivers seat has some rips on it and the passenger seats may have a couple misc tears. The carpet is in great condition except one small round spot behind the drivers seat, maybe something melted it, not really sure but its minimal. The front dash pad doesn't have any cracks, the seat belts work great, the center console is aftermarket, has plastic 6x9 speaker boxes with polk audio speakers. They sound good! All interior guages work except the volts. The heater, signals, horn, wipers (has delayed option), headlights, radio all work. The radio was swapped out for a detachable CD player. Drivetrain, Steering/Suspension:The suspension and drivetrain is stock. The rear differential appears to have been rebuilt at one time with upgraded axle shafts. The steering is very easy and very touchy however the power steering return line needs replacement, it leaks fluid. Overall the jeep is a pleasure to drive and reminds me of my Laredo because it is very smooth and enjoyable. Body, Paint, Rust:The body is in good condition, it doesn't have any significant dents, there is a small dent on the passenger fender, the front clip and windshield frame have paint chips from sand and driving. The hood has a few small ding/dents on it. The paint overall appears to be original, there is some clear coat flaking and dullness on the hood but still is reflective and the body too is very reflective, shiny and has lots of luster. This isn't 100% rust free but it sure is nice. There are a few small spots on the exterior and one in particular behind the drivers door by the flare. The interior front drivers floor pan has a small 2" hole where a drain plug was once located. There is surface rust in places on both front floor boards (view photos). Overall a very nice clean and original Jeep CJ7. Doors/Bikini Top/Hardtop:The doors are both in great condition, the windows row up and down very easily. The door cards are in excellent shape and the windows have window tint. The wing windows open and close tight. The bikini top included is a Bestop with hardware. The hardtop is in good condition, has some scratches and is fading in places but seals well and doesn't have any leaks. All glass is good. The interior is clean and looks great. The tint on the windows is scratched in places. The rear lift gate shocks hold the window tight and opens and closes easily. Tires/Wheels:The tires are 235x75x15 Michilin LTX with approx half tread. The wheels are factory OEM stock 15x8 White Spoke with the Renegade striping, they are good condition with some pitting and wear but overall nice condition. I do not have the original spare tire or wheel. Title/Bill of Sale:I have a clean colorado title and bill of sale for this Jeep. Overall:This is a beautiful 1986 Jeep CJ7 Renegade. It would make the perfect weekend warrior, beach cruiser or addition to your collection.
